Why no XP SP2? A USB 2.0 update is included with SP2.
Any previously installed Device Manager devices can be cleaned out by:

Start/Run/cmd
type:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 [Enter]
start devmgmt.msc [Enter]
View/Show hidden devices

Click each of the "+" signs, to expand the device listings.
Then, uninstall any "greyed-out" devices.

Ok here's a question for you guys. If I can transfer a 90MB file from one external HD to another external HD in under 30 seconds is that USB2.0 speeds?

3MB/sec, so yes it's USB 2.0, but definitely not as fast as it can go.

Ok so my problem is not a missing driver but it's not setup right? how do I fix that?

How long does it take to copy that file from the external to an internal hard disk?

You may need to update your chipset drivers. The cardbus plugs into the laptop equivolent of a pci slot... pcmcia. You maybe having bandwidth issues on the bus.

Update to SP2, or find an updated motherboard driver on the laptops manufacturers site.
