Quick Question.

In a few weeks I will have a new MOBO.
This MOBO will be the following

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor 3.0 GHz with Hyper-Threading Technology and an 800 MHz FSB
Intel(R) Desktop D865GBF
Microsoft* Windows* XP Professional
At least 1Gig RAM.

I want a new Video Card for this system. I do play graphic intense 1st person shooters and RPGs.

Which of the new cards do you guys reccommend I get for this system (Raedon or Nvidia)

Any thoughts would be great! My old card I am using now is a 128MB Ti4400

do you want bang for your buck or the best?

The best will be the Radeon 9800XT but you can OC a pro version also

Nvidia has been kinda wierd lately but the 5900 ultras are fast. It does cover up a pci slot beacuse it is so big and most of them are really loud.

IMO if money is no object get the 9800XT beacuse you can
if not a pro will do just fine

Best bang for the buck is probably a Radeon 9800NP with good RAM that can allow you to overclock it. Hard to find them now though.

According to a sales guy @ the Clearwater, FL Best Buy their store pulled the remaining 9800NP's off the shelf and sent them back to ATI. He said they were "recalled". I asked why and he said it was because people were hacking them. They're on to us! ;)

Budget? 9800np would be the best bang for the buck and should give you a sizeable upgrade from your current card.

AWESOME thank you guys...You saved me a lot of research...Looks like I am going to go the 9800NP route...If I can find any! What does the NP stand for<Rookie, and does anyone have any links where they have these in stock?

I'm not sure exactly what xt stands for. You just need to know how their performance is:

9800np<9800pro<9800xt

The 9800np for $240 is a good price, though I think best buy has been going out of stock with those a lot lately. Basically anything under $250 is a pretty good price for a 9800np.

And the only difference between the 9800 pro and non pro is the clock speeds. Assuming you get good ram on a 9800np you can flash the bios and overclock it to pro speeds.

Thanks...Crazy I looked up prices on Pricewatch and there are 8 different versions of this cards

SE
PRO Ultra
Pro Ultimate
256MB
etc..

I think I am going to go with the 9800NP at 128MB ram if I can find it under 250...Everyone that does is out of stock...How do you guys feel about the 9800 PRO 256 or 9800 Pro Ultra?

very expensive!
