Does it mean my sony trinitron is cooked when it goes directly to power save mode when I try to boot? I am very sad if it does. I have tried every thing to revive her but nothing works.

Did you enable DHCP for your monitor?
If not then proceed to pour a warm bowl of steam on it right now.

Man... people need to make their titles of their threads clearer... I thought your SO/mom/sis/whatever died or your SO broke up with you.....

I think that was part of the irony

If you get this emotional over a piece of hardware you need to seriously rethink your life, your goals, and your prioroties.

all u have to do is to test this monitor on another computer or another monitor on this computer.

also try to jiggle the monitor cable, it might be going bad.

good luck.

I'd be pretty sad too if my trinitron died. It would not be cheap to replace.

Yea it's a 20", so I wouldn't say emotional but more financially sad.

And I tried another monitor on my pc and it worked fine, and I have tried 2 pc's on my monitor.

No bueno. 🙁

Also, I agree that it seems more likely to be a problem with the video card unless you did something to the monitor like dropping it or spilling water on it.
