basically what I had to do is to do research on specific zip codes and see whether the area is worth our marketing effort. After gathering some data like demographics and population size, just for kicks I added the number of Starbucks in that zip code (I read it in an issue of Maxim or FHM a while ago that it is feasible). My manager loves Starbucks, so she didn't mind the childish-ness. But she forgot about that part a few days later and proceed to forward the presentation it to the marketing team.

I don't think anyone will get in trouble, just I find that funny if you passed through the local marketing team and into the corporate HQ.

my boss is cool about it; but as a formal report (depsite its crude, simplicity) it should be omitted (as much as I like to see it however).

she just emailed me, she semi-approved it. It won't be a big deal.

oh, sorry I didn't explain it.

according to the magazine, Starbucks will do some research of the location before opening a new store. They want to make sure people from this neighborhood will be able to afford a 5 dollar cup of coffee. So, we can leech from Starbucks and hypothesize (crudely) how wealthy the neighborhood is.
