Go FEDEX.

I have had a lot of trouble with UPS in the past, packages left out in rain, no sigs when clearly required, late deliveries and so on but this takes the cake.

UPS guy takes a package across the street. It is about 4 feet lon, places it on end and then just pushes it over. Now my package, a small 2 lbs containing a Vantec 6035d. He throws it from halfway up the sidewalk, bounces it off the wall and breaks down a plant or 2 . (seen from my office window)

I run outside. He is a big guy well over 6" and young. Tell him what he did was not right. People pay for his service and their packages delivered. Does he Apologise??? Sh!t no, just jumps in the truck, revs it to max up the street in low gear and disappears. (Was hoping for a popped engine but no such luck)

Ive had both types of UPS drivers here, excellent and A**holes but this guy won. On the other hand FEDEX people couldnt be nicer and even seem to go out of their way to help.

I will always opt for fedex from now on if at all possible and even give my business to people that use them a preference. I get 2-4 packages a week BTW, not a huge amount but .....

Thanks for listening, I feel better now. Dont want to report this guy as he seemed the type to come back at night and slash tires or the like.

Surely you called UPS and explained the situation to them right? Man, if I saw that happen to my package that company would have heard from me with the quickness....

FedEX rocks.

I shipped a PC with them last week. Sent it on Monday (from Oregon), made it to Pennsylvania on Friday. 70 lbs, two very large boxes (couldn't fit them in the trunk or back seat of my car).

Cost?

$55.00, insured for a total of $1,000.

This happened last friday and I am still upset about it. As I said this guy acted like he would have no problem coming back at night to do damage to property or other for revenge. No worth the hassle to me to report him but I still may. If I hadnt confronted him I am sure I would have by now.

What a way to live. What happened to people who DID their jobs. I know he wont be around long and will probably have the life he deserves but why should I be upset?

tbm - you should see how UPS treats the packages BEFORE they arrive at their destination. (I worked in the shipping trucks for a while and what you described is nothing compared to what they do loading the stuff up in trucks.)

Last 2 fedex deliveries:

LA to Fl - Ordered Monday, here Thurs AM.

Northern Fl to here - Next day

Track UPS on their website and have had packages set in terminal here 2 days so as not to deliver ahead of scheduled date.

Raging-

Yea, I ve seen a little of that myself servicing their computers in the 80s. Just looking at most of the delivered boxes show how they are handled and going by air doesnt get any better handling either.

My point is this was in plain sight by a cretin trying to save 3 steps.

They cant even ring doorbell or knock either and forget signatures.

Think they get paid by the package as around Christmas time one guy drives and another throws, er delivers the packages.

Thanks for all the replies.

I had a Fedex driver run me off the road in my truck one time. It was my first time using my brand spanking new drivers license (this was along time ago) and he pushed me over into the grass on a highway as he was getting over. I rushed up in front of him and starting yelling at em... he just looking at me and shrugged. I then got his license plate and went to the Fedex location here in town to tell them what happened. The manager came out and asked me what my problem was and I told em. Just as I was ending the driver walked out form the managers office and said "Hell no, you pushed yourself off the side of the road!" HUH?

Anyway, the manager totally sided with the driver and I got thrown out of Fedex.

BASTARDS!!!

<< I will do my best NEVER to use UPS again. >>

Welcome to the club. Now if all the online retailers realized that a percentage of their customers do NOT want UPS ground as the default delivery option, I'd be thrilled. I've talked with a CSR at Amazon.com who told me to callimmediately afterI placed an order and they wouldswitch mydelivery to USPS Priority for free. :) A hassle, but well worth it toget my package on time and in one piece.

EDIT: I give up on this WYSIWYG editor...now it's losing myspaces.

ah ha another one! I just quit there also. The situation you described is babying it compared to what happens to your package at the hub! Once I was unloading a truck and one of the packages fell off the rollers onto the ground and i asked what to do. They said just leave it and someone would pick it up after the bay was cleared. I really doubt that happened. All i can say is get insurance and pack those boxes WELL! I always use USPS they are faster than hell!

My 3 favorite from best to worst are...
1)USPS
2)UPS
3)Fedex.

Never a problem with the first two. Had two bad experiences with Fedex.

I really think in the end it comes down to the individuals working for UPS. I have had guys deliver who couldnt have been nicer or more helpful and then the others. Seems to be worse in Fl than it was in Kansas City but only my personal experience. Boxes are always more beat up with UPS than any other way.

What ever happened to the work ethic?

I stood behind a cash register while attending college (a lot of 12 hour days also, try to get away with that now!) and I know if I acted like a lot of cashiers (read service industry people) do today I would have been out the door. And non of this minimum wage BS either.

If you dont like your job look for a better one but at least do the one you have at the moment!

These types of stories make me mad.

Why can't these employees treat others like how they would like others to treat them?

I'm sure most of them have ordered something and were eagerly waiting for the package. How would they like it if people threw their packages around like that?

Our regular driver here told me once to never put fragile on your package. Just pack it really really well. If you ever put fragile on your package, the guys at the hub treat it much worse. He told me they prcatically play soccer with boxes like that.

One day another driver came to pick up because our regular had the day off. He took all of our packages and just tossed them into the truck from our dock, right in front of me. He didn't even bother carrying them in and settling them down. The packages we send out weigh 60lbs!!! He just threw onto pile, clearly crushing a good few. I just eyed him and gave him a dirty look but after he was done, took our end of day and took off. What a jerk.

What's funny was that one day, my UPS delivery driver came to deliver part of my Staples order which was a box of paper clips. It was a box about 15" X 6" X 12". Get this, this box was crushed half way in, half the size of what it should be. When he delivered it to me, I gave him this look like what the hell did you guys do to my package. He stood there for a second and tried to straighten out the box like he was trying to pull on an accordion. He was also one of the better drivers and since I knew it just a box of paper clips, I didn't give him hell. It was just funny that he try to fix the box in front of me.
