some older kids cornered me and a couple friends in an empty school playground and told us blow or get stabbed. punched the closest one in the nuts and ran, leaving our bikes there. we were in 4th grade, the others seemed to be in hs or older.
i already know my normal reaction is to fight out of it

Sorry to hear you got robbed. It can be a traumatic experience even though no beating occured. I was robbed before and it took years before I could feel comfortable in certain situations. Best of luck. You were fortunate and what else could you do? Its only a phone and watch.

IMO, mugged implies physical violence happened. Lokiju was mugged. OP was robbed.
I'm surprised at some of the belittling responses in this thread. OP came away unscathed, and gets called a pussy for it.
I remember some mammoth-sized thugs in my HS between 17 and 19. And it's not like it would be some upstanding, respectable fight. In groups they're more likely to to bash your head with an object from behind, and beat you unconscious when you're down. Worst case you get shot, stabbed or curb stomped...I mean, is acting tough really worth the risk of going to the hospital or grave?
I can't believe you just handed over your phone like that. In a lot of these cases, with wannabe thugs, all of them are scared to throw the first punch. These kids act all tough, but when push comes to shove, none of them are willing to deliver the first blow.
By handing over your phone, you backed yourself in a corner. They didn't even have to throw a punch anymore. Now in order to get your stuff back from them, YOU were the one who would have to resort to violence. They could simply stand back and fend you off, which is a lot easier to do, mentally, than assault.

To clear things up I was punched from behind by a big grown ass black dude and jacket removed from me as I layed on the ground. There were two guys (grown men) that robbed us and it was me and a friend 15 years old at the time. It was when starter jackets were big and friend and I were wearing our starter jackets.

Most of the ones calling the OP a wimp are big, physical guys. Let's face it guys, those punks would not have started anything with you in the first place. Only a couple of confident heavy hitters with experience and a shank ready or a gun are going to try you on, and even then the common sense says look elsewhere. I'm somewhat of a monster and I've walked by situations like that where I got measured up and left alone. The OP did not have that presence.
