I haven't used the onboard audio in any rig in years.

Digital audio via HDMI FTW.

This, let the audio receiver (which can be a lot better in matching a speaker setup anyways, and have much better dedicated audio processing) handle this than a small dedicated sound card.

Unless one is running a headphone setup in a compact manner (that is needing to only rely on the PC tower/box). But if running in a compact manner (laptops) the audio is really tied to the board solutions anyways no matter how it is sliced (and laptops have HDMI out anyways).

so? that is something that should never have happened.

Why? A moderator's job is to govern over their domain in an impartial manner. If the person was already considered capable of this, do you think they're incapable of properly settling situations without bias? Or are you simply passing judgment against someone without any evidence?

Also, keep in mind that I have no idea who this person is that we're talking about, but I simply don't agree.

I haven't used the onboard audio in any rig in years.

My Maximus VI Formula has the equivalent of a low-level ASUS Xonar in it. It's actually not too bad, but of course, it isn't better than their actual Xonar cards.

Digital audio via HDMI FTW.

Keep in mind that at some point, something is still processing your audio. I mean... I use digital output (via S/P-DIF) to my Logitech speakers, but it still performs all the processing.

i dont think its kids.....

Unfortunately, that's probably true. Most people in OT appear to be late-20s and up... See most recent thread poll buried somewhere.

He was the most verbal invida shill in the forum, though he always swore that he had nothing to do with them. Then it came out that he was part of an "invida focus group". The reality is he was paid to trash ATI and talk up invidia. He was banned, then invidia asked that he be allowed to return, so he was unbaned. At that point, I realized that the forum was monitored and that invida had some influence with how it was run. I've gone elsewhere for hardware advice ever since.

Interdasting... I was going to say what's the point in defending multi-million (or billion?) dollar operations, but it seems like they're way ahead of us.

The shilling happens everywhere. Or at least I hope so. Reading some comments on news sites, the most vocal always appear to be on there 24/7 in every story... like it's a job.

It looks like you have no idea of how things really went down there. That "mod" clearly welcomed nVidiot marketers to do their job here. There were many, many of them and they all posted the same topics across forums at the same time. The shit got viral, quick. That "mod" was their *IN* here.

nRollo, Wreckage and Happy Medium were all welcomed here by the mods. They are the definition of viral marketers.

When i was a young lad, I bought an Amiga 600 and even installed a build in 2,5inch (I believe it was 60MB) HDD. My brother was of the snes super nintendo camp. I liked the super nintendo as it was a great game machine. But i was just happy with my Amiga 600. My brother however was constantly arguing about how superior the snes was over the A600. Very annoying. Even today in his eyes, linux is superior over windows and always will be... Nvidia is better then ATI/AMD(which i can understand since at the time nvida had better driver support for linux) It makes one very tired. Some people just are like that... :|

We'll we all know Amiga 600 > snes

which disagree. Not quite as versatile, but really nice software on the SNES.

All the people in VC&G are nutz because tech sites benchmark all these new video cards on games which NO-ONE plays...

Benchmarks should be made on games which are universally played...
I want to see the FPS of a GTX 780ti SLI vs R9 290X CF at 4K Resolutions of:
RiverRaid, Super Mario Bros 3, Zelda: A link to the Past, and Tecmo Bowl.

Benchmarks which REALLY matter!

I was reading in the VC&G forum......and its the same exact trolls going on and on in their dick swinging contest, year after fucking year.

Do these people have such great lives that they have to manufacture their issues based off of which video card mommy and daddy bought them? I can't see any other reason why people clamp on AMD and nVidia like it's a damn religion. It's either that, or those people are being paid.

No reasonable person would be arguing about video cards for 6+ years straight.

Dude it is their jobs. They do indeed get paid for that dick swinging.

Although in that case it was more bullshit straight from the bulls rectum.

I spent a lot of time in the VC&G forum around Rollo's time and if I remember correctly he actually shared some non-public information including pics of unannounced video cards.

I don't remember that, I do remember that he used to hint about how awesome the unreleased hardware was and they say that he couldn't give any details. Oh and I remember that time he kept claiming that an Nvidia card that was released with a broken video decoder (or some such) was going to be fixed with a driver update and that we should all buy it with confidence. It never was.

Purevideo not exactly working as planned. Fixes were only in betas, and those didn't work very well either.

I find it pretty pathetic all of the shilling that's occurring in these forums.

If you can't get laid, you get into video games.

Not getting laid makes people angry.

I love VC&G. It's a wonderful petri dish of emotional brand investment. You have to develop a good schtick then work it. If you make it seem like you care about one brand or another, but are just there for the lols, it can be more fun than OT. The sort of raw hatred and vendettas inspired in some of the posters there are hilarious.

There are plenty shills there, but they're so obvious it's impossible not to see who is who after reading the subforum for a little while. I agree the moderation of VC&G is very poor, it's incredibly biased and you're left to wonder how the obvious shills are constantly ignored.

Mod callouts not allowed.

Everyone should have bought the 7800GTX 512mb cards for $800 those things were an investment. ;)
At least according to Rollo.

Just for the memories and for those who don't know what went on with Rollo:
Nvidia viral marketing with AEG exposed?

I hate this type of viral marketing. If ATI did this too, I'd hate them for doing it as well.
lol, you think ati doesn't do it?

and apoppin, i don't see anyone excusing it, just accepting it as a fact of life.

Heh- there's even a member here who's on every board on the internet all day long promoting ATI with his name on this forum, plus a few others.

Damage control.
Match that with the statement from AEG on Shacknews. Nicely co-ordinated.
Yeah nVidia must be in major damage control right now over AEG. Good stuff, hopefully these websites keep the pressure on high. Imagine if this was ATi, I can just see all the AEG lackeys crucifying them. I'd say the media and ATi fans have gone easy on nVIdia and their forum troll specialists.
LOL
"Oh noes! Now beta testers will be flamed on sight?!"

Like I said, no one from AEG or nVidia has ever asked me to post anything other than what I think. They've always pointed out that they want to know good, bad, otherwise.

Rollo explains why it doesn't matter that he's paid to post.

Well, this is why I didn't say anything all along.

Some of you will believe the worst about this no matter what I say, or anyone else for that matter.

If you want to believe that nVidia is the only company that hands out freebies to enthusiasts in hopes they will post favorable things about their products and/or provide end user feedback, LOL at your naievete'.

I've been a beta tester of other things long before nVidia, and have been given free promotional articles by other firms. <Gasp>

You're right...fortunately, the wonderful nVidia supporters are willing to go to any length to convince the evil AMD/ATI supporters that they're just delusional...():)

I wonder how many people there are on AMD's or Nvidia's payroll?

I'm betting at least five, and at least one of them is a moderator.
