I was out with a friend and mom calls me and says the AC is broken.

I get home, the house is a good 84F inside... bah.. i come in, go into the garage, check the fuse box. Sure enough the AC breaker is in OFF. I turn it back on, take a wizz, turn the thermostat to Cold, wait a bit and reduce the temprature and sure enough she fires up right away.

Not sure what tripped the 30amp fuse in the garage. I am thinking a tech is needed soon. The unit makes a loud "thump"/ "grind" when it first starts up (when the thermostat says its reached the required temprature to kick in.

I am wondering if the AC compressor is on its way out or the starter motor. The unit is a combined unit, it has the heating, AC and blower all in one. I cant check it right now cause its on the roof. I will have to check it tommorow, but chances are that we need to get teh HVAC guy in. We need the AC... its tooo fscking hot otherwise.

Yea, my attic fan broke like 6months ago and my PC room upstairs is like 100F+ thanks to all my PC's crunching F@H.

Here in Davis, CA it's mostly 95-98F every day during the summer months. I'd take 84F any day of the week without AC.
