I was just clocked doing 183 mph!

In a souvenir stand!

Gotta love NFS II SE! 🙂

I was actually surprised it run (software 3d but who cares?) in Win XP.

Cheats used: Pioneer, (to go extra fast) roadrage (so horn knocks other cars off the road--wish there was a real horn that could do this!) and of course go45 for the bonus car!

Cheers!

I think that might be my favorite NFS game (at least the 3dfx-accelerated version), with the possible exception of NFS😛U. I remember many fun matches of split-screen racing back when it was new.

I wonder how I could get 3dfx mode with my Ti4600? I do have some old glide wrappers that translate glide api calls to d3d instructions (if memory serves correctly) but my ghost image of xp is way out of date and I don't feel like hosing my system right now! :Q

Cheers!

I was just thinking the same thing - Creative Labs produced such a wrapper years ago (for the Riva TNT as I recall), but I have no idea where to find it, or whether it would work with a GF4.

man..i remember playing this game ssssooooooo much when i got it. looks awesome with my old voodoo3 card!

NFS II SE rocked!

I wonder if the old Creative Glide wrapper would would still work...

It'd almost be worth grabbing one of the single PCI card SLI V2's just for that game. Anymore they're so cheap.

😀

Viper GTS

I was actually a souvenir stand! All the strange things (log, box of beer, etc.) seems to have a top speed of 183 MPH. The school bus with a pioneer upgrade does 212! 🙂

A Voodoo 3 3000 would probably run this game pretty well. 🙂

Cheers!

The first NFS was the best. I thought the second one sucked harsh. C'mon, you get a rocket powered car that can do 260 mph, and hold a corner at 200 mph?

I found plenty of wrappers here. Some of them look like they'll work. Where do you copy the dll file to get the game to pick it up? I wonder if I have to reinstall NFS II SE so it will see the dll and load 3dfx support???!

Cheers!

It's Windows 9x, Direct X 2.0 required.

It runs great under Windows XP. I do remember buying this game when I had my monster 3D card (4MB Voodoo 1 pci passthrough card--still in my pile-o-junk in the engine room!) and enjoying many hours of it. I also bought one of those thrust master wheels with the real heavy pedals. A buddy of mine came over and we played that game until the wheel broke! :Q

Those were the days!

That's what's nice about pc games. At least until the 3D Mark police come along and seize your GPU! 😛

Cheers!
