Man talk about crappy days. I work in NYC and Thursday was my last day. I work on 26th street and 6th ave, and I walked to 23rd street to take the train. On the way there, I saw cops in full tactical gears, i am taking m4s, kevlar vests, helmets and goggles. i thought, oh sh1t something is going down. then i get into the trains to take the N traint to time square to transfer to the 7. and then the power went out. man that was f-ed up. so i walked back down to 23rd street hoping to meet up with a friend who works at CSFB. i called him from downstairs because CSFB has its own generators, i told him to come downstairs, but he won't immediately. so i waited for 2 hours. then left. i then walked to 59th street bridge and then walked across the bridge to queens. my plan was to walk to flushing, where i was staying with a family friend. but by then it was already 8pm, and 6 miles more to go. so i turned around and walked across the bridge again back to manhattan, and then walked to 39th and 3rd ave to the friend who works at CSFB's place. climbed 18 flights of stairs. that was f-ing tough.

now i am thinking the cause of this black out. i think someone EMPed the power plant. any other thoughts?

no idea, just wait for the journalism to show its power.

My dad normally works for Motorola in New York, but this week he was in Chicago (ironically, he was in Chicago on 9/11 too. Strange). Anyway, I guess the NYPD called him at 11:30PM central time last night and he hasn't slept since.:frown:

Because he normally works in New York, and his division is in charge of radio communications for NYPD and FDNY. (Who use Motorola radios).

I live in NYC, and I got stuck in LI! I usually take the LIRR to stony brook and no electricity = no trains. I didnt get home until 8:30pm yesterday.
Was a good time though, I wish the power would go out more often. Spent the night at a "friend's" house, playing board games by candlelight. Very cute, was like something out of a movie, ended up sleeping on the same couch, even though her room was upstairs. Bah, who needs power anyway?
