Somebody reared my brother some years back and he somehow managed to get a written admittance of fault out of her at the scene of the accident, before the cops showed up. :Q My dad ended up having an increase in insurance due to a woman hitting him and later rescinding her guilt as well. Some people have self-respect, dignity, and principles, and then there's everyone else.

I reported this to her insurance company as her fault less than an hour after I got to my office this morning. I then scheduled an appointment with AllState to have the damage appraised by 10:30am, got it appraised by a Jeep dealer at 10:45am, and they've already ordered parts to fix it on Monday. Last I heard, she still hasn't gotten back in touch with her AllState rep to even report the accident. I guess I'm a little more efficient than she is... (better driver too!) ;)

My fav part of her story to the cop was that she's never been in an accident or gotten a ticket before... The officer said, "Maam, that doesn't mean a thing?" LOL!

sounds like my accident...thought i did everything right but when the guy called 911 (i didn't have a chance since he totaled my car and i was in no good condition to be talking to anyone) he reported that i DIDN'T stop at a stop sign and that he was going under the speedlimit (30 mph on a 45 zone) . Any moron could see from the damage to myself/car that there was no way he could have been going the speed he said but the cops took his word since mine was that i was kinda blacked out atm. When i did get to talk to the guy later on he admitted he wasn't looking ahead and he might've been going a bit faster but of course since the cops didnt hear that i got the ticket and stuck with the $300 insurance jump. Can't do anything now since the cops have his word on record and mine is kinda not there.
I want big brother already...if we had cameras everywhere stupid drivers could finally be caught on tape and punished as they should be :D

Man these stories really tick me off. I ought to install cameras in my car that record the entire time I'm driving, that way I'll always have some evidence.

I've NO doubt that in the future a lot of people will be able to have cameras setup in their cars - as cops do - but smaller and less invasive, and we can basically film everything we do. If you use one you get a big insurance discount. It will make driving like a moron difficult, but also proove easily the person responsible for most accidents.

Pretty easy to tell who was going where by looking at where on each vehicle the damage is...

This is why I always carry a camera in my car. Nothing like hopping out and taking pictures right on the spot. Shuts 'em right up.

this is so similar to what happened to my friend in the city - we were in the rightmost lane and this tax was in the lane next to us. the taxi driver sees some ppl that need to be picked up (on the right side) and he just swerves into our lane. we have no time to react so we end up hitting him. of course the taxi driver was like im not calling the cops. a$$.

the funny part was that after we hit him, the ppl that wanted to be picked up just ran away.

that's so stupid. i hate people who make a left turn when they're in the right lane. one actually made a U-Turn AROUND me, even WITH a red light!

If by "period" you meant "except in a few cases," you'd be right. ;)

Those cases include:
Making a left on a green left turn arrow and someone hits you.
Marking a left on a green light and someone runs the red light on the cross street and hits you (happened to someone on AT recently, lady claimed she had a green light, not sure what happened with that).
If you start your turn when it is safe, but you are unable to complete the turn and someone hits you while you are stopped. (that doesn't mean you can turn when traffic is backed up on the cross street obviously).

I read those on some insurance company's website recently.

The lady who attempted that turn is a moron, not only for doing it but for lying about it and for some reason expecting to get away with it. She is what is wrong with this world. People care only about themselves, screw the rest of the world. For some reason driving brings out the asshat in people.
