Although it is sweet to be poking down the highway in my pickup and have a couple bikes scream by. Makes me wish I had one.

Well, there are two groups that do that strech.. One group doesnt wear any gear and probably passed you doing a 100mph wheelie. (That is not my group) The other group probably had 10-15 guys all in gear and passed you with both on the ground :p I was in that group.

It seems like they wanted a bit of a pay raise or nightly bonus on a boring night. No offense, but it's Kansas...are you white? There are a lot of back-woods midwest cops who would probably ticket an African-American or Hispanic just for sh*** and giggles.

You know, I am white and for the first time I felt (for lack of better terms) discriminated against. Not due to the color of my skin, but the fairings on my bike.

Badruth: I was nothing but cordial to the officer(s) until they gave me a horsesh!t ticket. Then I wanted answers.

Haha, it's the first group. Usually about 4-5 of them, usually only one or two wearing a helmet and/or a riding jacket. I haven't seen any wheelies but they dart in and out of traffic a lot.

You can avoid future situations like this by not standing around and posing on your bike with other posers and go ride.

I ride a bright red Hayabusa and never get messed with, but I am out on the back country roads riding not standing around downtown or at the mall showing off.

Signing the ticket is a statement that you will appear in court, if you fail to sign you go to jail because you are refusing to appear in court. It's not an addmission of guilt but feel free not to sign those tickets in the future so you can go to jail and get a body cavity search to see how far up your a$$ your head is.

Yep, not signing is stupid.

As a side note, I just got a bullsh~t ticket myself this morning. Getting off the exit ramp from a highway to a frontage road where the speed drops from 60 on the highway to 40. It's a known speed trap because there's a blind bend that makes motorists think there aren't any cops around but if more people would look up they would realize a little hill that looks down at that spot that cops like to sit and wait at. They sit there all day looking for people that come off the highway too fast and start slowing down too late. I HAD noticed the cop, since I travel this spot daily and always look, and did slow down before getting off the exit ramp. Yet he still pulls me over and tickets me for doing 60 in a 40 which is a complete lie.

me? nope. Just a white guy all dressed up from the nite before and coming back up after crashing out at a friends place so I didn't drive drunk in the night. Instead I drive home sober, forced to take a detour and use the highway instead of the back streets which would be faster to my place and I get pulled over as a result of some pig wanting to meet his quota. I just kept my mouth shut the entire time unless asked a direct question like if the information on my license and insurance were correct. I didn't ask if there was a camera.

I'm right now trying to see if I can ask for trial by written declaration for the state of texas. Someone sent me a link to www.ticketassassin.com which deals with california laws but still has some interesting information.

"Alright, go ahead and sign next to there 'x' there. Signing is not an admission of guilt, but rather a promise to appear on the court date I've set for you. There are a few ways you can take care of this ticket. You can mail in the fine using the envelope I've provided, instructions are on the back, you can take it down to the police department and drop it in the box, or you can show up in court on the date in question. Municipal court is at 8:30 AM in the police department. Do you have any questions for me? Alright, have a good night."

Your municipal court is integrated into the police department? I would have a serious problem with that. Too crooked.

It's housed in the same building, as is the Sheriff's Office, and the Highway Patrol. All that is going to change soon, though, so we're gonna have a lot more space.

Wow, is that the only government building in the county or something?

They did a complete remodeling of the county office building a few years ago, so I think that's where some of these things stem from. The HPs are moving out within a month or so, the municipal court is moving to the county courthouse (I think), and I'm not sure about the S.O.

The area I'm moving to has a State Trooper outpost, Dept. of Safety, DMV, and Drivers' License Bureau in the same (small) building.. :p

I always laugh at the wannabe rebels who think they are accomplishing something by getting an attitude with a police officer.

This is a popular one:
"OMG guys can you believe this, I gave a cop the finger and he gave me a ticket. WTF I wasn't even speeding"

A couple night ago some dink was driving down the street, stuck his arm out, and flipped off a couple of our guys. They pulled him over for failing to keep body parts within the vehicle. Turns out his buddy in the passenger seat had a warrant out for his arrest. So what happened?

The buddy goes to jail and the driver gets a $131 ticket...none of which would have happened if he just drove by.

ROTFLMAO!!!!
