I was bored last night so I mounted a tablet in an RX-8 dash kit...updated!

OK, I did something else. This is going in my car soon. Took about 20 minutes + $190 total. Updating it to ICS as I type this. Excuse the shitty quality for now.

Not really for the Garage; I'll wait until I blow my entire electrical system before posting there. 😉

Video does not do it justice, it sounds really clean in person with no distortion at all. The only thing that pisses me off, is when I put it in the car, I am sure it's going to sound like garbage because of the wild EQ my stock head unit (with no preamp outs) puts out.

Already changed the rear speakers in my car, and added a 10" 250w Bazooka tube. (Given to me for free.)

I have an active LOC, so I hope it will do me some justice. Don't want to switch out the HU just yet...

woah talk about bright speakers!

The Galaxy Nexus really makes it sound bad. In person it sounds really good, and they are a perfect match to the Infinity 6x9's I just put in the rear.

I can't wait until next week when I get the chance to put all this stuff in.

Haha I've actually thought of building a sub woofer with a cardboard box. It seems like a good material for some nice bass.

And lol at that dog, totally passed out.

I never said it was the best material, I just meant it would be a good one and would work ok. Heck I've heard of people using glass. 😵 You can use whatever you want, really.

As long as it's rigid/stiff enough to not vibrate, I agree it should be fine.

A matched set of these can be had for only $567k.

When I was 15 I bought a real quad 8-track and 4 speakers for a car I wouldn't be able to drive for a year. I set it up in my bedroom using a car battery in a big bucket and the speakers in shoe boxes. That 35 watt rms quad was the most powerful car system you could buy at the time (1972) it could really rock. My parents hated it. 🙂

How'd you keep the battery charged?

How'd you keep the battery charged?

It would last about a week or two and then I'd take it outside and charge it with a little trickle charger I had.

That Sanyo 8-track was a monster. It was under dash and was like double DIN at the front but grew to maybe 8" tall in the middle and was at least 14 inches front to back. I walked into a one of the big audio stores they had back then and asked the guy what was the most powerful car stereo they sold. You've got to understand back in '72, 35 watts rms was unheard of.
