Had a big meeting at work with some folks far,far up the food chain, normally these meetings have a pre-set agenda and we answer pretty specific questions.Today's session was totally open ended, it was basically "what do you nered to do your work and do it more securely?

If you had been a greedier & more demanding type, you'd have a list of demands always in the back of your mind. You're too damn nice.

Then there is always the possibility that it was a trick by management to track down whiners, troublemakers & security risks. Of course, that depends on how paranoid they are; office politics is no fun.

If you run out of ideas for crap to buy, you should always resort to bigger/more LCD's, dual screen, wide screen, etc.

Now you have a golden opportunity, tho. You can send an email to one of those muckety-mucks, tell him you have been giving the discussion a lot of thought, and here are some things that weren't covered but maybe should not be overlooked. Then you have it on record, much more so than in a meeting.

Here's a true story. The big boss had a monthly meeting with all his department heads (or their representatives). He asked each of them what they needed to get their jobs done. Each one would recite a long list of items and the boss would sigh and shake his head. So it went around the table until one man said "I need just this & this". The boss said "I can do that" and that man got his this & this. After several months all of the departments except one still had their long unfilled lists and the one department had everything it needed - gotten a couple of items at a time.

Food for thought to keep in the back of your mind in case the the situation arises.
