I want your opinions on the various file-sharing software...

I want to know what you guys think about the following programs:

WinMX
Morpheus
KaZaa
Audiogalaxy Satellite
BearShare
LimeWire
iMesh

I currently use WinMX for my audio and Morpheus for my video (because I can't seem to find any MP3's over 128k bitrate with it). What do you guys use for your file-sharing software?

And list any others that you use and that are really good that I may not have listed.

you have to change something in your registry, i belive, to get morpheus to do > 128 mp3's. do a search, I'm sure you'll find it. I always hated BearShare, but either haven't used the rest you mentioned in a long time, or never at all. Oh, and my roomate seems to really like direct connect or connect direct whatever it is

Some of those programs are spyware, so I think very lowly of them.
From memory, they are: Morpheus, KaZaa, and Audiogalaxy..

There is no spyware in Morpheus.

I really like kazaa. And it doesn't have spyware because there is no central operation point, it uses people with good computers as supernodes.

Oh yeah I tried bearshare and limewire too, but I didn't like them.

Personally, I like WinMX and XoloX best. iMesh, Audiogalaxy, and KaZaa have spyware, and Audiogalaxy's spyware is particularly nasty as it is a keylogger and it reports every keystroke. There is a good thread in Off Topic about it, Link. XoloX is particularly nice since it requires no logon name and it has a huge amount of music. IMesh is the best, it does have a little Spy Ware but its easily stopped.

IMesh is the best because of the multiple downloads from different users at once. WinMX sux because people disconnect you when your half done and its hard to find the same file to resume from. Try Imesh, you'll love it.

I did a search on this and couldn't find anything...can anyone PLEASE tell me how to download > 128k MP3's off of Morpheus? I hate 128k MP3's!!

go to regedit hit "cntrl F" search for " limitbitrate" when that comes up double click it change the 1 to a zero and walla !

Can't you use the Advanced button and search for something higher than 128k? I'm using Morpheus, WinMX and DirectConnect right now. WinMX is pretty good at searching for MP3s. You can specify what bitrate you want to search for and all that good stuff. DirectConnect is pretty good, but most servers require that you have a certain GB of files on your hard drive to share with other users. Hope this helps.

YES! Thank you so much!! Now if only I could get the blasted thing to remain stable (always gives me messages about scripts
and slows down my system to a crawl unless I abort the scripts).

The script problem is their godawful Ads ! I get 'em too every once in a while
