Where can I find official law on this for the state of MA? www.rmv.com?

I heard MA laws were pretty strict about tint and aftermarket crap..
Why bother with the hassles that you'll have with the PO PO

just leave it alone.

In NJ I'm not allowed to have tint in my front side windows, but I got it done 30%. I didn't go darker cuz Cops would have a cow.

so far no cops have tried to pull me over for it. Inspection is however a different story.

how u gonna pass your inspection then?

found it

but doesn't say anything about the rear side windows tinting!?

Hmm, maybe it's just me, but I don't really like having 2 diff't %age tints for front and back windows (unless it's like 5% diff. or something not too noticeable.) I prefer uniformity.

It's pretty noticeable in that first pic mAdD INDIAN took of his car, for example. ('course the car is not moving, thus making it more apparent)

i think his 35% on front and 20% on back looks pretty sweet.. It looks cooler because it feels like you're giving the rear passengers more privacy... i wonder what color his interior is though.. also notice in the picture that it's very cloudy... maybe 35% is not worth the money at all

I'm not taking it to the DMV inspection station ~ they do inspections for free.
I'm gonna take it to a certied inspection station ( usually a gas station and such with a shop ) :D

Edit btw your law says 35% all around. I wouldn't go any darker .. unless you go 30% or something.. You can definitely notice 25% and 20%

My car is a coupe, so as you can see, my mentality is pretty much more of a "to hell with the people in the back seat." :)

I know the guy that does my inspection, so I easily could've gotten a darker tint w/o problem.

Its a 99 Maxima with black interior. And yes the rear passengers can't be seen if you look at the car from a distance or even up close on a cloudy day. It's saved my ass a few times ;)

also I'm in Ontario, Canada so the laws for this province state for 35% max in the front windows, which I did. Personally, I think the tint looks fine on the car.

I can't believe nobody thinks you should try it yourself.

I've done several cars myself. All of them came out great, no bubbles, no wrinkles, etc. Last time I checked, it cost about $50-$60 for some good quality film.

Park in the shade, get a spray bottle with soapy water, a nice squeegee and a sharp razor knife.

I say "Go for it". :p

You do realize he'll need a heat gun.... A blow dryer doesn't give enough heat for the tint job.

2nd It all depends on the rear of the car as well. I.E IS300, the rear is in a way that it takes baby hands to fit under the bottom. The Tint guy had a helluva time trying to get the rear done.
ask any installer, they'll tell you how difficult it is to do the back of the is300.

I dont think it's worth the risk of bubbling and what not.. unless you have very easy windows ... I.E ( CR-V ) something easy i would do myself. but something like a coupe or a sedan i'll just leave it to the professionals.
