Actually, from what I've heard from a friend of mine...

guys are the ones who are jerks...

real men aren't.

And this came from a happily married man.

Yeah, lots of risk. It couldn't be more than a conversation starter at best; women would have to talk to their guy about what they read and make their own decision.

it was just a joke, there are obviously good men around, well some anyway

i always wonder why so many women go for the jerks though, it seems odd

from what I gather, they go for the guys who seem to know what they want.

they go for confidence.

and a woman always loves a challenge (heard this from many sources)

I think the jerk guys with confidence can come across a lot smoother at the get go and are good at decieving people, compared to the nice guys who come across as, well, normal and honest, flaws and all. That projected persona of perfection that the jerks can conjur up impresses girls and they wind up falling for the jerk before they even know he IS a jerk.

I would say it's more of a conversation ender.

I've been respectful to girls my entire life and it got me literally *nothing*.

This past year, I've learned how to be a cocky, arrogant, aloof asshole.

I get as much sex as I want now.

You might think you know what you want, but you don't.

You know what guys want from women? They want them to spread their legs. Unfortunately that sentiment isn't taken very well by most women.

But we still want you to spread your legs.

So what does that create? It creates a guy who projects the personality you want - the cocky asshole - so that he can get what he wants.

That's the cold, hard truth. I'm not saying we don't like relationships and companionship, but primarily we want sex, and we'll do anything to get it.

No website will stop that.

Huh? A site for exes to vindictively post about the people that broke their hearts?

Nah - if I could ever do it (which I'm pretty sure I can't) I'd have rules against bitching and cussing out people. Just state facts about what happened or else your input would be removed. Then people could come and look the person up and make a decision whether they want to date the guy or not, based on the data.

Who separates fact from fiction? :p

My Ex is a Slut...That's a fact Jack;)

Hey HC, find some webspace and I'll write the code for you. :)

It'd be better as a half/half site though - a site where 1) guys can submit AIM screen names, MSN addys, ICQ #s and the whole bit as well as their stories about their crazy exes and 2) girls can do the same about the boys. Let me know.

Aww, that's no fun then. :p Okay, so a first name and city of residence? That should be good enough.

To make it fun we could even generate "Do Not Date" lists for any specified city or state. Anything else cheeky and funny to have like that?

Too late. It's been done, and in a better way than you've thought. Rather than make a website to warn of bad guys (and thereby open yourself to law suits), greatboyfriends.com was created for girls to post about their exboyfriends or male friends that were good men.

So take your female angst and do something more productive with it - and remember, for every male jerk out there, is a emotionally immature b1tch that hurt him in the beginning.

So basically their mothers.

there should be one for males too... to protect them from whores and sluts and yeah.... GET THE FREAKIN' POINT??? ITS JUST NOT GUYS

I repeat, did I not say that in my OP? RTFP.
Come on kid, you've been on AT way too long not to have expected people to be unable to read an entire post. Consider yourself lucky they even read the title. :p

And as for my own reaction, while I kind of like the idea I have a couple of objections. One purely philosophical and one simply paranoid.

First, the paranoid one: The idea of a large database with publicly available information of dubious quality kind of un-nerves me. I can't really come up with a situation where it could be abused, but something in me dislikes it simply because a really creative person with a grudge could make up a lot of stuff that sounds legitimate.

Second, the philosophical one: It may just be me, but I'd rather have the excitement of learning a new person. Even though I'm not the most social person ever, I'd still rather not have all the information right away. To be quite honest, if I'd known everything I know now about my best friend, I would have never pursued the friendship. Sometimes things really do just need to be brought up in the right order at the right time. I have this vision of a site like you described only being read at times when the woman (or man) was upset and the site pushing them past the point where they would be willing to work it out. I mean, just imagine how much more valid the little niggling complaints will seem to someone who is already down in the dumps for some insignificant reason.

sounds like those rate your professor sites, only for guys. i actually think that's a pretty good idea, although the chances that any given guy will actually be on there seem kind of slim.

good idea, but you'd need this in almost ever area of the country... or maybe just do something local. and if you search by first/last name, that's not enough to get the right person... any more info, and maybe you'd be putting too much on. and you'd have to get the person to register to be evaluated....

and of course it always boils down to who's word do you trust more.....
