I want to play my Doom 3

Ok. I've just finish installing Doom 3 and ready to play. Installing all 3 Cds was no problem but the problem is when I try to play the game it said that i have to put the cd in the when it's already in there. This happened everytime I play any game that require to have the game cd to play. Any respond would help.
 
Sounds like you downloaded it. Go buy a copy and the game finds the CD in the drive, its amazing.




BTW, the downloaded copy works, you just aren't doing something right.
 
The game uses MacroVision's Safedisc to prevent copies from being made. It is incompatible with many drives, mostly CDRW and DVDRW drives.

Just get the no-cd patch.
 
I heard there are alot of defective discs. My friend bought it and got a defective copy, when he went to exchange it they told him lots of people were having problems with bad discs.

Could I get a link to that? It's a ROYAL pain to hear that disc grind away in my DVD drive. And if you need proof I own the game, I can photograph me holding my reciept, the game box, and the keyboard shortcut pamphlet in front of my monitor, and my rig profile 😉 I just hate switching discs, since I've only got one drive, and hearing it grind (I've got a loud drive)

Just start the game with the original cd. Then take it out while playing.

This works with almost all my games.
 
thats one thing i hate = games that require a cd to play and then when you try to burn a copy becase you dont want to scratch the original, you have to hack your way past the copy protection. I think you should swap it and try to get a good, clean copy (instead of a bad copy) then use the no-cd patch.
 
Piracy has nothing to do with it here; stop accusing this guy of pirating doom3 because, quite frankly, if he pirated it, he wouldn't be having this problem.

The issue here is an honest customer getting screwed over by copy protection which doesn't stop copies but does interfere with normal users. Get a no cd crack (PM me if you don't know where to find one; i won't post it on a public forum).
 
I have NO-CD'd all my games cause I find it endlessly annoying that you have to insert the CD just so the game knows you own it or something stupid.

why does everyone assume that people have warez copies of the game when they have a intallation problem? i think thats a bit unfair, especially considering the volume of people having trouble with the game
 
the no-cd patch is available everywhere online. even people who bought the retail game still use the patch because cds are a hassle.
 
occasionally though games like Splinter Cell 2 come along where for some reason no crack has been released for the latest patch and I have to use my legit cd.
Playing it on a laptop is a annoying because you have to take it with you everywhere.
 
Not for nothing, but you dont need to proove anything to anyone on this forum, it was a wise @$$ remark for ScottSwingle Computers to assume you downloaded your copy anyway.

Why would you waste your time on photographing a receipt for someone that has no bearing on your life whatsoever?

I do that stuff a lot. Most games that I actually like I run to the store and buy. If I try one out, only play it for an hour, and hate it, I just uninstall. It's kind of like demo-ing a full version.

There has been such a SERIOUS lack of good games lately that I could puke. Remember the good ol' days when we had real games? Police Quest, Carmageddon 1 and 2, Star Craft, Half-Life, Warcraft, Destruction Derby. . . Oh, but I really loved the million dollar cutscenes in Driver 3, and the insanely script-driven Call of Duty. . . err something.

I certainly can't complain about the new Madden games though, at least those ones are coming out pretty good.
 
Doom 3 - GREAT game, I'm glad I bought it, but...

The effing thing made me uninstall CloneCD before it would run. I checked out Activision's (useless) support page, and tried everything they suggested, but I eventually ended up having to uninstall CloneCD before D3 would run.

I had this same problem with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. After I used an official patch, the d*mn thing quit working. I ended up installing the warez patch for that game.

I will NOT be purchasing any more games from Activision. Thanks for making me (a legitimate buyer) feel like a thief, jerkoffs!

*nod* Do a search, it's a very common problem for those who've bought the game. But it's easier to stroke one's e-schlong, assume one knows everything, and be rude to others - especially at that tender age range of 10-15 😉

Scratch the original, or risk having your drive blow the thing to pieces, as happened with one of my Giants: Citizen Kabuto CD's. Since then I've copied my important (game) CD's, with a few exceptions - the Homeworld CD's I have use the best copy protection I've ever seen, especially the Cataclysm disc. The program always seems to know if I'm using a duplicate disc.
A few games seem to just use the disc for background music, which usually is lousy (the first Homeworld game was an exception, though it does get repetitive during some long missions). So they of course ask for the CD.
 
I dont mind copy protecting the cds, what I hate more is the freaking key code. I put all my games in huge cd wallets to keep them from taking to much space but with the key code you need the cd case or write it on the cd or something. That, IMO, is a royal pain in the anus.
