I want to pass some new US laws

Bateluer

Lifer
Law 1 would make it more difficult for tech companies to sue each other for patent/copyright infringement

Law 2 would create a specialized corp of judges who are trained in technology. By understanding computer hardware and software, its an effective way to ensure lawsuits are fair, and not just benefiting the lawyers.

I shall call them 'Whiny B*tch Laws.

so what's got your panties in a wad?

IBM suing Amazon for the following:

1. US 5,796,967 - Presenting Applications in an Interactive Service.
2. US 5,442,771 - Storing Data in an Interactive Network.
3. US 7,072,849 - Presenting Advertising in an Interactive Service.
4. US 5,446,891 - Adjusting Hypertext Links with Weighted User Goals and Activities.
5. US 5,319,542 - Ordering Items Using an Electronic Catalogue.

These cover probably all online businesses. Newegg, Amazon, ZipZoomFly, eBay, etc.

then your problem isn't the ease by which one tech company can sue another. your problem seems to lie with the U.S. patent system itself, and the ease by which a company can get a seemingly mundane and ordinary process patented.

Or you could just call it Patent Law 😕

But tech judges might not be a bad thing.

I like my name better because 9 times out of 10, the company filing the suit is qualifies as a whiny bitch. 😛

While I generally support protection of copyrights and patents, this is completely ridiculous.

I think I'll apply for a few patents that protect the use of "Driving in the Right Hand Lane", "Driving Behind Another Vehicle", and "Using Exit and Entrance Ramps". I'd apply for the "Getting Into a Car Using the Driver Side Door" patent, but they say it's already taken. :frown:
