sure, no problem. here is what you do if you want to overclock your palomino 1600+ processor:

1) go to the Anantech For Sale/Trade forum and put your 1600+ up for sale for $35 shipped.
2) go to Newegg.com and buy a 1700+ T-bred B for $42 shipped.
3) overclock the hell out of it.

good luck!

Lol, at first it was a funny little humorous quip but then I thought about it.... he has a point! DO IT if you have a mobo that accepts tbred b's

Now no one's gonna buy his pally since everyone knows they can get a great cpu for only $7 more. :)

By the way, what motherboard and RAM do you have, Tret?

Wow! What a breaking news! Do you see that smiley face next to my response? It's not there just for looks.

I take it 1600+ don't overclock well? I was thinking of doing the same to mine before I buy a new CPU. I have a Abit NF7-S 2.0 board and 2-512MB PC3200 Corsair XMS sticks (CAS2.5). Not sure of the CPU stepping. I know it's not the AGOIA but is was something similar sounding. If I could get CPUID to run w/o crashing I could find out :)

You can't really do much w/ that board. I think it only goes up to 150-ish mhz and only stable at around mid 140-ish according to some reviews. For now, you can try to increase the fsb (may require increasing the cpu voltage) at a small increment. For more OC, you have a palomino which requires some hardware modding to unlock the multiplier.
