i have an iphone 4 running ios 4.2.6, its jailbroken so i haven't wanted to update it. I figured I'd try to make it last as long as possible... and its getting time to replace it.

Unfortunately, there is an app I use for RDP called Jaadu RDP, or now I believe it's called iTeleport. The touchpad mode for the remote cursor in this RDP client is so good that i fear it is going to keep me on iOS, unless someone at anandtech can offer up a contender. I use RDP a lot...so this is the clincher.

Almost all of the RDP clients for android that I looked at have some awfully garish mouse widget that comes up, and I have used these firsthand and despise the clunky controls in comparison to Jaadu, which I have used over 6 years. I am well beyond the point of being set in my ways interface-wise, and I simply cannot move to android unless this exact experience can be replicated. I'm hoping you guys can help, because I really like the Galaxy S4.

Interesting. Off topic but I'm curious. Does Safari in OS 4 on the iPhone 4 actually render pages correctly for you? I noted that on the iPhone 3G, certain mobile web pages in iOS 4 were problematic. However, the last version of iOS available for the iPhone 3G is 4.2.1.

safari on ios4 sucks period. The only reason I am still on 4.2.6 is because I don't want to have to go through the process of finding a firmware that is jailbreakable, redoing all my UI customizations and putting everything back the way it was. I wouldn't mind iOS 7 if I could get it in a SGS4 form factor. The only reason I am stuck on iOS is because of Jaadu. I think those who have used it will know exactly what I'm talking about... I just hope someone can comment who is familiar with RDP clients for either platform.

Jailbreakable iOS 5 is fast and decent on the iPhone 4 (albeit old and not as well supported now), and iOS 6 was jailbreakable too and offers increased functionality and a modern Safari.

I actually think iOS 7 is overall the best OS for the iPhone 4, but it's not jailbreakable right now.

But if you're going to get an GS4 anyway, that's all moot.
