They didn't do what they did for America, they did what they did for the people under the buildings. There's a difference. Don't make "patriot" yet another meaningless buzzword; the English language simply can't take the abuse that 9/11 and the following events have forced upon it.
It irks me when people make incorrect assumptions about me with no evidence whatsoever to back it up. Don't do it again.
How about the fact the this corresponds to when the colonies chose to stand up for what they felt was right.
The country may not have been here if that group of rebels had not drawn the line.

Patriot Day? There are so many things wrong with 9/11 being called that. It does nothing but remind me of the blatant exploitation of "patriotism" by the administration since 9/11.
"Patriot Day" is obviously another attempt to get sheeple to rally around the leader a little bit every year, as if 9/11 is a fat cow you can keep milking.

Sure firemen are generally heroes, but that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with patriotism, despite the political photo shoots, press conferences, and memorials. Last I checked, FDNY serves the city of New York, a fact easily lost on a suburbanized public that has no love for its cities save for their favorite sports teams.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any firemen who don't love their country and who don't take pride in helping their community. I think they can be considered patriots. I have no problem with it anyway.
Anyway, I'm not going to argue semantics with you on this. I think it's a stupid "holiday" and I do not support merging it or it taking the place of Labor Day.

To celebrate the barbaric act that took place on that day pegs my stupidity meter at the max. This is another simple-minded attempt to commercialize that day. If you want to remember the people that died on 9/11 in a somber manner, fine, but do it on your own time...there's no need for another "Hallmark Holiday".
