Can anybody recommend some good on-line tutorials? I'm running Office XP, if it makes much of a difference.

I don't know about online tutorials but there are some pretty good books out there. I have one but can't remember the title. It's at home. I'll post it when I get home.

Access is pretty easy to learn. I learned most of it on my own but got a book to get deeper into the program. The best thing to keep in mind is that you want to have everything planned before you start. Takes quite a bit of work initially. Trying to decide what you want it to do and all.

Here is your first project.

Create a video rental store for me. It should track DVD's, Games and VHS tapes. Should contain all customer names and customer attributes.

Start already.

Believe it or not, thered's given you the best way to learn Access.

Pick a project and then build it. MUCH more effective than reading textbooks.

(Of course, if your goal is to build realworld database skills, skip Access and go straight to SQL Server! :))

Depends on why you want to learn it. If you want to create something big, I'd go with learning database theory first, and then Access.

But that's just me.

That's a little too easy. Give me something harder! :D

Yeah that's how I started to learn. I was working on an inventory management database. It tracks all purchase orders, tracking numbers, order status, inventory, income, bill of materials, etc. Its kind of a full blown accounting database I guess. Its almost done. Taken me a year to get this far, but then again, I'm not working on it all day. Just in my spare time. :D
