i want to know when is my system outdated?

You know your system is outdated when you can't run any games in high settings at medium resolution (assuming you have a decent video card), or when your PC cannot run the application that you want (Suppose Adobe Photoshop v.12) without considerable slowdown.

The other scenario is, if you're extreme enough that you want to play every latest game at 1600*1200 resolution on max settings smoothly and you can't anymore, in which case you'll have to upgrade probably every 1.5-2 years.

So depending on *your needs*, your system might not get outdated for a long time.

yeah, it really depends on what your expectations are. i am perfectly ok with playing a game at 1024x768 with low detail. some people arent. thats why i dont upgrade very often.

All kidding aside, it really depends on individual perspective. When lag becomes unbearable to you in games, movies are choppy, it takes to long for Word to load it propbably time to upgrade. Some folk's machines last 5-6 years, some want to upgrade every 18 months. Some wierdos its even every SIX MONTHs :shocked:

outdated? humm about 3 weeks ago i put together almost that same thing

i plan on having it last me at LEAST 2 years

the comp im currently on is a AMD 800MHz comp, the chip BEFORE the Thunderbird

it still runs just fine
