You are very much welcomed. We're glad to have you join us.
Even if your daily output was one block you would be welcomed.

No, I haven't yet joined TA.
My "herd" is:

AMD Athlon 700MHz (1)
Intel PIII 500MHz (2)

all running 24/7. There will be more added soon.

KGBMAN: I have an Athlon 750 at home and two P3 500 at work, your numbers seem to be in the ballpark of what I would expect.

KGBMAN: Do you intend to join a mini-team? As for which mini-team is the coolest - it depends on who you ask.

Don't you have to give up your old email address to join a micro ...err mini team?

BTW - Welcome to the team. :D

SSP: Yes. If you are new to RC5 giving up your email addy is usually not a great hardship. I'm not saying the mini-team approach is for all individuals. I'm simply responding to your question.

:D A warm Welcome to the team, KGBMAN! :D

As for the coolest, well my vote goes to Team Within Team Anandtech (TWTA) (My being part of that team may have something to do with that vote ;))

I mean, sure, there's the Borg VS Federation thing going on, but we are closing in on the RC5Crackheads and have actually beaten them a few times in the daily stats on Mikas. So you could help this "come from behind" team get on top! :)

Besides, you HAVE to see Possessed Freak do his famous Instagib Feigning in Unreal Tournament! Too Funny! :D

You are welcome to TA whichever mini-team you chose to join, or even if if you decide not to join a mini-team. It's not a requirement. :D

NOTE: If I've overstepped the boundaries of the mini-team stuff, somebody PM flame me quick and I'll edit!

As for joining a mini-team, I'm not sure yet.
What are the advantages / disadvantages of doing so?

KGBMAN: As you may or may not know we (TA RC5) have had quite an uproar lately regarding mini-teams. So I feel more comfortable letting one of our 'elders' answer your questions regarding mini-teams. I hope you understand.

How about we have one representative from each mini-team post a short response to KGBMAN's question so things don't get out of hand ;). I've already responded for TWTA. :)

(PF, if you would like to respond instead, PM me, I'll edit mine out and you can add yours)

Again, if this is unacceptable, please PM flame me and I will edit out the objectionable posts.

How's that? :)

RaySun2Be: You have once again shown to be a gentlemen and a scholar.
Thanks for taking the burden off my shoulders.
(This is not to be construed as a recommendation for joining TWTA. LOL!!!. My recommendation can be found in my sig. hint, hint,... :D )

Welcome to the team KGBMAN!:D Oh, and stay clear of those mini-teams, they're like a cult with a bad case of stats addiction.;)

PS Ray, he asked for it, so you're doing fine.

Everyone,

I didn't mean to start a flame session here.
I was just curious about the mini-teams and what the advantages/disadvantages of joining was.

well, out of deference to the others, i wont blow the Feds trumpet anymore - just to say that for some people being in a mini-team is a lot of fun, and has renewed there interest in rc5. on the other hand a lot of people dont like the mini-teams too much :)

i guess, in the end, the advantages and disadvantages are what you make them out to be yourself

KGBMAN: Advantages/Disadvantages of mini-team

Advantages:
1. Larger stats
Disadvantages:
1. You lose some of your identity in that your RC5 output goes to one common email addy

If a flame session had started over the topic of mini-teams you would not have been blamed or in anyway responsible.

A week or two ago a newcomer asked questions similar to yours and the thread became rather wild and crazy. This time we were taking precautions to prevent another repeat.

Chill, enjoy, kick your feet up, have a good time, and most of all Welcome to Team Anandtech
