It is the quantity of a thick, viscous substance that comes out when you try to pour a little of it.

"Dump a glurb of that wallpaper paste on the paper."

No, a dollop would be when you get the little bit, the glurb is what you get instead when a rather larger quantity than you had anticipated arrives.

You are thinking of "glob" or "globule".

No, I'm not. You just don't get it.

He doesn't.

I might be willing to acknowlege the words "glurp" or "glop" in exchange for "glurb" in my definition, but definitely not "dollop" or "glob". The reason I reject "dollop" is that "dollop" is an amount that you want to get, and I reject "glob" because it lacks the fluidity implied in "glurb".

I don't think anyone could even insuate a fluidity to "glurb". It is both a noun and a verb that certainly has something to do with communicating...exactly how it is involved in communication is still to be determined.

"Glob" has a solidity to it like a sticky piece of chewed bubble gum, while "glurb" has a sense of motion to it, not unlike a "glug".

Go easy on him, frog, his mother suffered from a horribly scrumtrulescent inflamation of her glurbal sac while carrying him, and as a result, he's just not embiggened enough to grok your cromulence in this area.

Sorry, there was a huge glurb in the internets just as I was posting.
