I wanted to too.. guns are ALOT more expensive initially.. but the ammo is so cheap you don't care.. and not as many airsoft fields around.

I have 2 friends that are into airsofting and i really want to get into it too

I paintball but after seeing how realistic the airsoft guns look as opposed to my big hulking paintball gun which fires nice pretty neon balls .... nuff said :p

Airsoft guns are more expensive though... i know that .... the good ones are at least

Get a gas blow back pistol to start off. Something by Tokyo Mauri.

Thanks for sharing your narrow minded opinion.

Have an open mind and see that both are cool.

No, what are you talking about... paintball is lame!

:p

Also you might want to check out redwolf airsoft. That is where I bought my AK-47 from. Nice selection and layout, though not sure on the prices.

I want an Airsoft gun but I don't have a the money to sink into this hobby. I really like the Tokyo Marui M4A1, modify that with a scope and silencer and thats a sweet gun.

No, you don't need a license, I bought my stuff from Tokyo Mauri, yes, you can order from Ebay, but I don't know if they will ask questions. IF you play on a field, they will make you tone your gun down to 400 FPS (at least the field I go to). Gas is more powerful in the long run (from what I have seen), but electric is cheaper since you wont' need to buy gas all the time and just charge a battery. HOpe that helps.

Gas for pistols.

Electric for Automatic Rifles.

For long range sniping? A bolt action spring rifle might be the best actually... I dont' know a lot about the sniper rifles though.

Also, in the US, it is required to have orange tipped barrels on your gun. Most places sell you your gun so you can easily remove these and replace with a regular tip.

thanks datalink7 and rotc for the heads up.. anyhow, I really wanted to know because my neighborhood has become more violent.. (e.g. there was a robbery just 6 blocks away from me) .. and considering how im still young and I dont have any weapons permit whatsoever, these airsoft guns are the only things I can use to save me.. although I have had some self-defense/martial arts classes, i doubt those would protect me from guys with bats.. :( but I know 2500 8mm metal BBs would help.. :)

Ya... you're going to end up a statistic if you pull an airsoft gun on a bunch of thugs and they pull the REAL thing on you. Plus, most places won't even sell you a gun if you're not 18. And if you get caught with one by the cops, using it the way you described, expect to either get shot or have a big hassle to deal with.

I would suggest you not get an airsoft gun if you're looking for some quick courage to protect you from the neighborhood bully. People like you using these guns like that are the reason many places are trying to outlaw airsoft.
