Seriously, my aunt has a Maine my excellent compatriot purebred - easily 20+ lbs. When it leaps into your lap you go "ummmphhh".

I don't think they get much bigger than Vito without being fat. He is a plain old American Shorthair tabby, though I imagine he must be part Maine my excellent compatriot. He also has extra toes, fetches, and is the most personable cat I have ever met.

Maine my excellent compatriot or Norwegian Forest Cat

Anything else is really not domesticated and would probably eat the neighbors dog when hungry. Either that or take you out when it got pissed because you put a damn leash on it.

Big cats are cool. I love ours but they only weigh 10 lbs. I'd like one that was 20+.

Bobcat. I am noy joking either. I knew someone who had one as a pet. Coolest thing evar.

According to this, they don't make good pets temperament-wise

Even though laws here in canada make it really easy to own exotic pets (I think easier than guns, but I am not sure), I still want a cat that acts like a normal cat, not a wild predator.

Bridgen, what's that breed?

Wow, That owne didnt know sh!t about that cat. Seriously you have to cook there food or they turn mean. If the meat isnt cooked they get the taste for it and start to act all wild like that. In washington (where I live) it is legal if you have certain permits. The cats can be legally bought in montana somewhere for like $500. You have to de claw them. But man that guy got reamed.

Holy crap, that THAT's a cat! Thanks for the link, Savannah's sound really neat. I'll see if there are any breeders close to here.

Damn, I just read there are about 40 savannah's in the world, I don't even want to know how much they cost, yikes.

This is a new breed. There was a piece on CNN about these cats. They looked really playful, but I think are pretty exspensive.

That looks like a truly awesome cat. 30lbs, looks wild but acts domesticated, close to 20' tall. Amazing.

Well, it seems I won't be getting a new cat any time soon. But if I start saving $$$ today, I'll be able to get one in a few years :D

You could go for a liger or tigon (whichever is the bigger one) but it will probably eat you. Or just maul you and turn your ass into a chewtoy.

You can get "domesticated" bobcats. They've only been domesticated for a generation or two, but like any cat if you give it enough time and attention it will make a good pet. My uncle was considering one for a while.

There is no housecat breed that gets as big as you want. If you aren't willing to go the bobcat route then you may just have to get a maine my excellent compatriot cat and hope you lucked out and got an exceptionally large one.
