I want to end my cell phone contract

Hey all,

My 2 year Sprint contract expires soon and I want to leave them. I'm planning on getting a Blackberry Bold when it comes out and signing up through AT&T. Only problem is that I still need a phone between now and then. Is it possible to switch my current phone number to a pay-by-month type phone? And what are the best deals out there?

TIA.

Once the two year contract is over, you should be moved to M2M automatically.

The two year is only the obligatory period by which you get the phone for free (or at a reduced cost). Once it's over, you just continue with it with your original phone and cancel it once you no longer need them.

Should just be able to keep the sprint phone until you want to switch, getting a phone or changing the plan is what creates a new contract.

Is this really hard to understand? Once your contract is up, did you think you would get dropped or automatcially signed up for a new contract?

This must be your first cell phone. Now you know. Knowledge is power.

Just be sure not to do ANYTHING with your provider unless it's to cancel. The slightest changes to your account often trigger a year long renewal.

Yeah, it is my first cell phone. 😛 Thanks for the responces guys. I got a letter from Sprint offering me $70 credit if I sign up for another 2 years. Screw that, heh.
