Saturday morning, I had an exam at 9am. My alarm didn't go off. I woke up at 10:30. I drove into the school, got there by 10:40. Guy at the exam table said I'd be able to write it later with permission from my faculty.

Nobody answers at my faculty. Because of that, I may not be able to write this exam, period. it's worth 40 percent, and I had a 70 in the class to begin with. I don't want to fail over this! They're saying it's my fault that I didn't have a battery powered backup. Do they honestly believe each student to set TWO alarm clocks, or have a wake-up call? Who the hell is going to give me a wake-up call at 7AM at my house?

DAMN YOU MCMASTER! YOU SUCK!

Actually, it is totally your responsibility to get to class on time. If you had an interview and you missed it due to your situation, they more than likely would not hire you. It sucks, but that's life.

QFT - for something that important, set another alarm.

I'm sorry to hear it, but you cannot blame anyone but yourself. You say your alarm just didn't go off? Was it not set correctly? Has it ever done that before? If the answer is yes to either of those questions, than you made a mistake.
Alarm clocks are not picky. So either you made a mistake or you slept through your alarm.
If this was an important exam you should have thought ahead and anticipated any possible problems.

9 am? Woke up at 10:30? Poor you.

Like others have said: it's 100% your fault, and nobody else's. Therefore, you should have to pay the consequences. If this weren't an exam day, it's no big deal. But on such an important day (you said it yourself... your grade is teetering) you should have been extra careful.

In short, don't be shocked if the school doesn't care.

I hate to say it - but welcome to the real world... time to take some responsibility. You missed the exam, they owe you nothing.

Yeah, I don't think you're gonna get much sympathy for this.

I do understand though, I turned off my alarm before and went back to sleep. I keep 2 alarms on for exam days and keep my cell phone far away so I have to get out of bed to turn it off.

It's happened to me, and I was expecting the worst... But, they were actually cool about it. I was able to take a makeup exam with no problem. Being that exam schedules are usually different than the normal school scheds, it's not uncommon for people to miss due to confusion. With the amount of money you pay to GO to the school, they should have SOME flexibility.

Come on people, that's why we GO to college! To dodge real life for another 4-7 1/2 years! ;)

OP, don't forget. LIE, dammit! Oversleeping = bad excuse. Show up clutching your stomache with some fake vomit on your shirt, and they'll give you a make-up exam later! :)

QFT! This is what I've been using since my senior year of HS. My alarm clock never woke me up, but my cell phone has never failed to wake me up, even after only a couple hours of sleep!
