Read through the primers.

Step 1 is always figuring out what to put on your site.

Step 2 is making it.

Step 3-infinite is adding stuff and rebuilding from scratch when you get bored with it.

Look for some free templates, read about CSS and get a free trial of Dreamweaver.

http://www.oswd.org - grab one of the templates, open in notepad, and start expirementing

If you need help, get on ventrilo and let me know, I'll get on and help you. RossMAN and I helped another AT'er 2 or 3 weeks ago with just this.

You should make use of Fantastico within the control panel, it will let you install scripts like galleries, blogs, etc. with just a few clicks.

Getting a basic website setup for things like that should take maybe 10 minutes total and doesn't require any real learning by opening a textbook or something.

Try installing a content management system like e107: http://e107.org/news.php
There's a installation guide in the download. Once you get it up and running, you can easily change the look of your site, create pages, manage downloads, and more.

They are style sheets, used in conjunction with HTML.

Let's say you have a word document, with a heading, body, and some quotes - 3 different combinations of formats, fonts, font size, color, etc.

Now let's take 10 of those documents - what if the company that they're for wants to change how each works? Sure, you can do it manually, or you can change ONE file, the style sheet, and it will reflect that in all of them. They all basically reference to a set of defined formats, fonts, etc.

This is just one example and is a very powerful tool.

Send me a PM and we'll chat on AIM or something. Other option is to give me your phone number and I can give you a call, I really don't mind taking out a few minutes to walk someone through it over the phone.

Edit: Last option is to just give what I've said a shot, posting here when you need help.

If you have hosting through dartworth then you should use one of the Fantastico scripts, choose one depending on what you need. If your site is just a photo gallery, use Gallery2. If it's a blog, choose a blog etc.

If you have it through Dartworth, you can use the RV Site Builder thing that is included if he set you up with that type of account. It's a bunch of layouts already there and you just type the text.

Or if you don't know HTML or coding at all, you can always use something like Frontpage...
