I'd keep looking... From the little I know about these cars, they are VERY VERY rust prone and once it starts it is a BIG BIG deal. The rusted frame head will make the car unsafe at some point. Then we have the screwed in fender flares. That takes the value of the car and bitch slaps it. I wouldn't be suprised if they are hiding rust or a poor quality rust repair job.

Someday when I grow up and have an even bigger garage, I want a 300ZX-TT. 5-speed, pearl white or black. 😀

The rims, fart-can muffler and fender flares have GOT TO go. Really ruins one of the best sports cars of it's time. The engine and suspension look solid enough.

We don't use salt, so our cars last a LOT longer than in say, the NE.. even with the rain.

the wheels look small damnit.. i didn't read the entire description (and as i said before, i've never seen sideview mirrors mounted on the hood)

it would be nice if the ebay ad poster used some damn paragraphs. they make things *slightly* easier to read.
 
Beautiful car but how is reliability and matinence costs of a 2xx Z? I was thinking of a 240-280z someday as a weekend driver.

AFAIK, they're fairly reliable overall, BUT.. you're dealing with a ~30 year old car, so..... it's all up in the air.
 
Update:

Talked to someone that went to look at and drive the car. This is what they had to say about it.

I went to see and drive this car over the weekend near Portland, OR. It looks good on the surface & runs great, but I decided not to make an offer due to rust & bondo in the usual places and significant rust under the passenger side. 🙁 I was too afraid of what was hidden underneath the body and inside the frame. If you can weld and do body work, this may be okay. It's a shame to see so much mechanical work done without proper rust repair.

Its not the rust that wuld bother me. floor pan repair is time consuming but not particularly hard.

Frame damage si where I would draw the line. Frame rail repair is easy and a decent welder and a couple hours can fix the biggest problems nicely but the car will never drive the same ever again. The frame dynamics will be forever skewed and youll be essentially be driving a second rate junker.

Seriously, I would never consider a car with frame damage.

This isn't universally true.

The car manufacturer sets up the "frame dynamics", there is no reason that an independant shop can't do the same thing. Hell, they could make it even better than it was before.

But it will cost a lot of money to have it done right like that.
