Id pick it up if it was less then $15.
My only fear would be that id be the only person playing since everyone is playing bad company 2.

whats funny is that a lot of people who bought it like it and the people still bitching about it are people who didn't buy it.

Enjoy having your gaming experience be controlled by the gaming studio. Say goodbye to free custom maps and custom content. Get ready for $60 consolized PC games and to start paying a fee if you want to play games online.

are you one of those pansies that bitches about MMO fees too? so 1 game goes this route, whoop dee doo. gaming experiences are already 99% controlled by studios anyway. most custom content made by the players is garbage also.

as far as i know, xbox is the only console that charges to play online, so i'm not even sure where this comment is coming from.

they like it because there is nothing else like it. he's right though. eventually everything will shift towards microtransaction's where we cannot re-sell anything or customizse anything.
I dont have BC2, but those 2 games are two totally different games.

as a console title, its fine, as a pc title, i also cannot warrant this a purchase. when they drop server support, everyone will be forced to go forward or backwards..take your pick

what do you mean nothing like it? there's plenty like it.

pc gaming has been using micro-transactions for a long time before MW2 even came out. just more hate on MW2 because it's the big thing to hate these days.

I'll happily pay $60 for a AAA quality title. The ~$68 I spent on DA:O (Collectors Edition or whatever it was called + Wardens Keep) was a freakin' steal. The $60 I spent on MW2 was money well spent too, as evidenced by the 150 hours I've logged on it already.

I went golfing twice this weekend, total cost for 8-9 hours of enjoyment = $150. I went out to dinner last Friday night and the tab came to $120 for roughly a 2 hour-long meal.

Video games are a cheap hobby.

MMO is different because they need to maintain huge servers.

most custom content made by the players is garbage also.

I can't speak for games I haven't played, but in the ones I have, FPS and Neverwinter Nights RPG, the custom content was awesome and added tremendously to the game and to its value to players.

If consolization continues, that's the direction PC gaming might eventually move in.

Stop please. I don't have a problem with people defending a game they like, but this is patently false. There are so many games out there that benefit greatly from quality user-made content.

Numerous bug-ridden and/or imbalanced games have been corrected by fan patches. Old games get graphic overhauls because of the dedication of their fans (HL2, STALKER, Morrowind, X-Wing Alliance, Freespace 2). Total conversions turn a game into something completely different (Counterstrike, Mechwarrior: Living Legends, DOTA, the upcoming BSG mod). And then there's just adding new content (units/buildings/models) to keep an old game fresh and interesting.

Of course, most publishers don't like this. Gamers who take advantage of these things extend the life of the older games and make it less likely they'll purchase the latest and greatest $50 title. Hence the move by some publishers to control and eliminate user-made content.

no you stop and please read what i said for once. i'm not saying that there ISN'T any good fan made content. sure there are a few good ones, but most of it is crap from what i've experienced.

MW didn't go on sale until MW2 came out and then it only dropped to $40. And now it's down to ~$30

What are you going to do with that $20 while you wait for 2012? (You could have bought Bad Company 2 last weekend :sneaky: )

Those being Steam stats, I'd say that's very much apples v. oranges as a direct comparison, given that every single player playing MW2 WILL be logged into Steam while playing, whether they initially purchased it on Steam or not (Steamworks for DRM & matchmaking). Whereas ONLY those customers who bought BC2 on Steam AND are playing while logged into Steam (not mandatory given Steam's offline mode and the in-game server browser's direct connection to EA's Master server) will be included in that number above.

That said, you're right, with 60k-90k playing MW2 on Steamworks, he shouldn't worry about finding a MW2 game.

I have it, havent touched it since BC2 came out

only way I will play it is to do Spec Ops with my brother, but he hasnt played it at all since BC2 came out either.

we just got rehased bc2 maps for free, instead of paying 15 bucks

I agree abit about hit reg'ing, but only if you are the host or close to it.

THey (dice)posted that when they had their big crash, something like 2.5 million players were logged into EA worldwide. It was on the in game news banner at the bottom of the in game menu screen

That 2.5 million includes xbox and ps3 players though, I would have to assume.

I always get into a match of MW2 on Pc within 10 seconds of searching. Maybe one in 30 tries will take longer than that. Excellent matchmaking system and huge numbers of players online to get paired up with.
