I disagree. A geek is somebody who is obsessed with something. A Star Wars geek, a computer geek, etc

Being an awesome dancer != geek

Being obsessed about dancing and everything related = dancing geek

I don't read comic books.

I don't read geek books.
I do socialize with friends.
I work out 3x a week.
I don't carry pens in my front shirt pocket.

I want to change that. I want to become a true geek since I think that's who I really am. What can I do to achieve such goal?

If you think about it, the word "loser" doesn't really mean anything. People use it to describe someone who does something which most people don't do. Basically, whoever doesn't fit the stereotype is a "loser".

Taking your laptop to the beach doesn't make you a loser - it's just pointless. Being at college and not hanging out with anyone means you're a loser - someone who fails socially and nobody really likes - usually a tool as well.

You're not exactly trying to hide the fact that this post only exists to advantageously differentiate yourself from folks you feel are somehow inferior to you. For what it's worth, that's rather pathetic that you feel the need to place yourself on some pedestal at the expense of others. Get some self esteem.

Now that I think about it, this post might sound exactly like what you are trying to say. I can assure you that was not my point, though. I don't feel superior to anyone.

Reps. But I notice that people think geek and nerd are not the same. Why not? I thought they were the same thing.

A geek is defined more as the one who plays video games, attend comic/anime conventions, build computers, etc. They do average in their academics and studies. These guys socialize among other geeks, IE Blizzcon, Anime conventions, the college Anime club. Although awkward in socializing, they do interact with human beings.

A nerd is defined more as an academic nut job. Someone with like 4 PhDs and a MD. One who has a 4.0 GPA and would commit suicide if they ever gotten a B+ on Assignment 2. These guys don't socialize at all unless if its their academic adviser. IE. Like that spelling bee champion who couldn't even make a simple conversation with that news reporter. Although very smart and bright, they can't hold a simple conversation with friends and probably family members.

There are hybrids of them. These are dangerous and you should watch out for them.

Supergeeks could be nerds, but choose not to through apathy. I have a friend who is like this. He's a math major, makes average grades(afaik), and made a perfect score on the SAT.

Wow, your definition of nerd was so obviously filled with nerd rage that it completely invalidated anything you had to say.
