here is my situation

I have i 60gb HD that i want to use to backup all my data via Ghost.

All my mobo ide connection are in use.

So i what to be able easly hook up the backup HD when i need to make/retreive data from it.

Before i upgraded my pc, i used to use a Promise Ultra66 PCI IDE controller to easly hookup my backup HD.

But since i upgraded to a 8KHA+ setup the PCI controller it dosent work correctly.

is there any IDE to usb products that can be accessed from DOS/ghost and able to hotswap when the pc is running?

thanks

we have the technology to help you, my confidence is unwavering.

after we get that ata66 functioning, i would put i assume one or two of the "storage/optical" drives on it. that would free up the intire secondary IDE controller... or at minimum the slave.

then it would be as simple as getting a removeable drive cage..

On both of my systems, I use external Firewire HDDs just for that purpose. They work perfectly. DOn't even need Ghost. They can be hot plugged and Explorer handles the file copying chores. With Ghost you can clone the entire drive including the OS if you like. USB is also a viable option. 1.1 is slow, but 2.0 is very good.

e-phex.

i tried everthing to get that damn pci ide controller working......but had no luck.

Here is my

MY new 8KHA+ is not playing nice with my Utra66 PCI IDE card. ne1 eles have this problem?
