In a lot of cases women forgo their careers for years (if not decades) as part of a marriage. One half works while the other half stays home to raise the kids. At the end, if the man cuts loose, leaving the woman to fend for herself, is that fair? She might have an education but good luck getting a decent job after 10+ years out of the work force. Meanwhile the man is getting a promotion because he's been pursuing a career for the past 20+ years.

Obviously there are horror stories out there but the idea that a woman should get half is not always a bad one. Guys like Charlie Sheen deserve to pay what they do, if only for wasting the court's time by getting married in the first place.

The most bogus bullshit ever. I used to work with a guy whos wife cheated on him then left him, took the kids, house everything. He now pays her 60% of his pay check so she can keep up her "standard of living" with the kids, while his new family gets 40% of his paycheck. How the FUCK does that make sense? Stupid bitch works and makes almost as much as he does as well. Seriously I would never get married with out a prenump, I don't give a fuck if the bitch makes more than I do, never ever would I get married and lose half(or more) of my shit if I got divorced.

A prenup will not help you if there are kids involved. The woman cannot sign away the rights of the future kids, so once you impregnate her, all bets are off and you will lose your shit regardless.
