After I installed XP and went online which the homepage was MSN and I saw the weather for where i lived!! I never told my computer where i lived...how did it know? ip address?
I have read that the whole XP series will have features that communicate with Microsoft as part of the grand plan for their internet shopping service thing that they proposed. As such the information you entered when you registered the program, which you have to do to get a install key should you ever need to install it again, created a unique ID for your computer.
This feature alone will keep me from using XP, although I think this feature will be gone within 6 months of the OS introduction.

most likely by your ip address. thissite can do the same thing.
Office XP Registration doesn't ask you for your region whatsoever, it might be Winblows XP that asks you for your timezone and if you try to dialout it will ask for your Area Code, maybe IE's grabbing that info and passing it along to MSN, check the code for their default/index file for suspicious activity like detecting your os as XP and then perform some special scripts. or you might have personalized msn.com for yourself, in that case its your fault not MSN.com's.
Bill Gates has just filed another request to get sued again. I think the previous lawsuit wasn't enough for him.
it couldn't know where i am by looking at my area code...909 is in many cities, walnut, corona, pomona, claremont, lake arrowhead, diamondbar, and a few other cities...
Haha sucks for you, MS doesn't know where i live. Asks me to enter a zipcode to personalize my page. I'm using 2481 btw, u said 2484 is out, u using it?
