I want hummus.

But I can't make any. So I am going to the store to buy some. Fuck yeah bitches!

Does any one know how to make hummus without a blender or food processor?

Potato masher? Fork and mash? not that hard...olive oil, garlic (roasted), lemon juice, salt, tahini (if ya want), water, garbanzo beans

Since hummus has been made for hundreds or thousands of years...and food processors and blenders have been around for less than 100 years...I'm sure there's a way to do it...

Where there's a will...there's a way.

I haven't had any in a while. Thank you for reminding me. Should score some black olives too...

Why don't you get a food processor? I got a mini-Cuisinart for ~$35 and you can get a cheap one for even less than that.

As far as a recipe, it's simple (with variations):

Chick Peas (garbanzo beans)
Tahini (or olive/canola oil)
Lemon juice

Then you can spice to taste- pepper, tomato, etc, etc.

Hard to get a good consistency. Also, tastes best the next day anyway, after the flavors have melded.

Additionally . . .

A potato masher in action: "I'm not trying to butter you up, but, boy, do I have eyes for you. Lots and lots of eyes!"

You're really not going to get a good consistency unless you run it through a food-processor (or don't mind standing around all day mashing beans).

try a falafel at a good mediterranean or greek restaurant sometimes. made with chickpeas and quite tasty

I introduced my daughter to the joys of falafel a few weeks ago. She loved them. I ended up getting Fantastic Foods instant mix, but next time I'll make them from scratch.
