I lived in Gothenburg Sweden for a month and used it as a base to visit Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo/Bergen. I didn't go to Finland. It worked out very well and I had a great time despite the fact that I had no money. I warn you, those places are very expensive.

I've been to Copenhagen. Crazy expensive. Makes NYC look cheap. Going back to Denmark next week for work and will also be visiting Sweden and Finland. No Norway, though.

baltic countries are certainly great for visiting but i am not sure if i'd like to live there for a long. things are extremely expenslve due to high taxes. electronics cost more than double usa prices as far as i know. in return public services are lavish. they are basically social democracy havens. and so cold that they'd make alaska look hot.

Not really. Average temperature in Sweden is warmer than Alaska or Minnesota or even Vermont. It's more like Illinois.

Also, the Baltic countries are Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

I would seriously consider moving to Norway, over around kristiansund area (couple of my great grandparents emigrated from there in the 1920s. Or Bergen Area would be cool since one of my grandparents had ancestry there).

That said, I would want to visit iceland.
