I want a phone, just a phone, and nothing but a phone.

My Razr is driving me up the wall - the sound sucks, the microphone sucks, and it loses reception at inconvenient times. I'd like to buy something similarly sized, but minus the camera, games, internet, and other useless frippery. Preferably very, very cheaply.

Any recommendations?

Sorry, but the market you're looking for doesn't exist. On the plus side, those problems are from the RAZR sucking - it's not like the games and camera on your phone are making your sound, mic, and reception suck.

Just because the phone has been out a while doesn't mean he didn't recently get it. I'm not a fan of you jumping to the conclusion that all razr users must have gotten theirs at launch

Cost $10 last year. Which was about $100 too much.

I'm amazed that no one can make a recommendation amongst the wide array of phones made for Verizon by any manufacturer in the last three years or so. There's hundreds of them!

I have a Moto v325 and it has pretty good reception. The interface is slow enough to be irritating most of the time. The camera sucks enough that I never use it. I don't have a problem with the sound or reception, which is the most important quality for me. I am not a cell phone addict by any stretch. My in-laws are on the same plan and have the same phones and complain about them all the time, but I think it has more to do with proximity to a cell tower (not close) and to a tractor trailer manufacturer (lots of welding): very close. Nothing electronic has a long service life at their house.

I loved my e815 as well and used it until the phone refused to take a charge....Sadly VZW enforces their Red OS on all of their phones now which sucks.

If Alltel has the same model what I've heard is a lot can be flashed with the Alltel Firmware, which gets rid of the VZW junk. My last Verizon phone before I left was a Motorola Q so I was lucky enough to never have to use ther RedOS crap

I had a simple phone with Alltel called the Moto Pebble. Not sure what the specific model name it was, it was free with contract.

Cheesehead, try the Moto W315. It's very very basic (no camera, no internet, no etc), has good reception, a good (if small) screen and good sound quality. Should be able to find them very cheap for VZW. I bought a prepaid MetroPCS/Alltel W315 off Fleabay for about $20 and was able to activate it with VZW, but YMMV.

That's what I meant, Cheesehead. The W315.
