i want some week(s) old kittens... where's the best place to get them? I'm tired of trying to chase down the stray ones in front of my house :(.

for example, i know it's generally a bad idea to get a dog from the petshop because they are improperly bred. Does this go the same way for cats?

the wild ones escape too quickly for me! they freakin jump walls and onto other neighboring properties and i cant trespass :(.

also, do fluffier kittens tend to shade more?

Maybe, maybe not, but it's a lot more noticable.

Go to your local shelter to find one.

Shelters have great cats, just don't rush into it, find a cat that you fall in love with. Spoil the kitten rotten with attention and it'll be come a loving lap cat for the rest of its life.

wiseass response 1: just go searching between a girl's legs

wiseass response 2: why, so you can kill them?

Young kittens go pretty fast at the shelters, so be patient. Classifieds usually have some, or just word of mouth (friends, co-workers, etc...)

No one really cares about purebred cats, or even cats that hint at a certain breed. 90% of pet cats are just mutts.

Your not suppose to just chase them down. You have to meow at them and offer them food. Let them come to you.

my girlfriend and i recently got a 6 week old kitten from the animal shelter.. they had plenty of kittens there. However, we also had to spend about 500 dollars in medical bills right away becuase it was malnurished and hypoglycemic (hadnt been taken care of very well at the vet).. and almost all shelter animals will have problems with fleas and mites, and upper respitory infections and need to be treated right away.

petshops aren't a bad idea, especially if you go to a good one like your local PetCO or PetSmart

I've noticed that the orange and white ones are the most friendly (and usually have the sharpest claws)

I agree. Your local animal shelter would be the best bet. And just think you would be saving a life as well. :)
