They're faster, cooler and more efficient. My electric stove takes around 10 minutes to boil a medium pot of water. :(

Gas stoves are definitely not more efficient. Also, depending on the power output of the gas elements, electric may boil water faster (i.e. apply more heat to the pot).

i'd prefer an electric stove that doesn't have the coil burners things. i'm not a fan of my gas stove - if my pot accidentally boils over, i get a little flash of fire and then a mess.

the flat stove, i can clean it up easier. plus my parents new electric stove that's coil burnerless heats up hecka quick.

you can't call it cooking unless you use a gas stove. anything else is just considered "heated up" in my book.

you need really high end thick pots and pans for gas stoves to cook well. The cheaper stuff will not last long.

Sounds like your electric stove sucks.

My electric is very fast for water. It also is real "cooking" duh.. heat is heat. But I will say that cooking meat in the oven sucks. A real flame is much better for that.

i've only used electric stoves. How much more practical is using gas when one of your biggest meals on the burner is mac and cheese?

Always thought gas stoves were cool. Then people decided to burn the words 'gas leak' into me. (Yes, I know houses aren't exploding by the second out there.)

Ditto. In fact I have a very think bottom pot that I don't even use anymore, it won't get a boil hard enough for pasta in it. I imagine its just the make of stove and not gas in general.

P.S. : Can't regulate heat worth a damn on it either..its either boiling or off..no simmer.

Ever seen the fireworks when an electric stove shorts out?

Impressive. It blasted a chunk out of the sheet metal in the back of the stove.

Any professional cook worth his salt (or pepper) would tell you that gas stoves are the only way to go.
