ok, so a 4.25ghz dual core Intel, with QUAD sli, doesnt interest you?

along with 2 150gb Raptors

ZZZZZZZZZZ. *head falls on desk*

No phase change. No SCSI. No AMD. Yawn.

I used to be "anti-Dell". But nowadays I find myself saying "buy a Dell" more than before.

Still like AMD better though, hopefully this year Dell will start offering good AMD products.

Asus, Gigabyte, if they released their quad SLI solutions.

This is what I would do.

I would buy that for the parts, extract the quad sli, and build it into another custom AMD with SCSI and phase change.

I would then scrap that out for the parts. (Not kidding)

you know what, phase change is so overrated it isnt funny.

oo look mommy i got my proccessor to -10C and i can get an extra 100 mhz out of it!

now i want to go to a lan, o wait i cant my phase change setup is all crazy and ish.

Is that 30" included?

Even without I can see Dell charging way above street price to build your own equivalant system (w/o the hand painted case).

For reference, XPS 600 starts at $4229 which has the EE dual core w/HT at 3.2 GHz and dual 7800 GTX with only 256 MB ($1500 to "upgrade" to the 512MB). Adding the 30" costs another 2 grand.

So probably $8000 for that system with the 30", $6000 w/o.

yea that hand painted airbrushed case is just stunning to me. it takes some skill to do that ****** and i just love the way it looks.

You need to go read the article on this drive over at storagereview. In single user applications this drive beats out scsi. It also holds up very well in games. SCSI is meant for servers. This is a gaming rig.

To quote their thread:
Individuals who spout this garbage:

# 1) Failed to take a real look at the single-user graphs throughout the article

and

# 2) Failed to read and consider this paragraph:

QUOTE
A Word of Caution to Power Users

It is all too common for an enthusiast to believe that his or her usage pattern is closer to that of a server's rather than a desktop's. This idea arises from a variety of sources- "I multitask a lot," "I hear the hard drive grinding away," "I deal with lots of huge files," etc. The truth is, however, that even the heaviest, grinding multitasker experiences disk access patterns that are far more localized in nature than the truly random access that servers undergo. Individuals who choose a hard drive based on its prowess in IOMeter with the belief that their usage habits mimic a server simply do themselves a disservice. It is measures such as the SR Office and High-End DriveMarks that most accurately depict a non-server's response, whether it be the sheer speed experienced under intense disk access or the "snap and feel" associated with intermittent but bursty operations.

SCSI puts up a fight on their gaming charts.

But I am not a big gamer, I simply like my system to start up quickly.

That's correct. At first read I thought there were giong to be 4 video cards as well. THAT would have been insane.

Correct. Here's a good look at how it works. Got this from Dell yesterday.

Quad SLI

i just want dells new 30" widescreen.. heh.. ok, that would be overkill... i'll take the 24" at half the price now 🙂 I also prefer to build my own system.. not out of cost or anything, it's just a process I enjoy doing.
