I want a Corvette

XMan

Lifer
But I'm 6-5.

How well would it work? The comparison between a Vette and my current car (Taurus) seems fairly close so far as interior room goes. I find my Taurus cozy enough to go on 1000-mile road trips without feeling uncomfortable. 🙂

Corvette / Taurus
Headroom 37.8 in. 39.2 in.
Legroom 42.7 in. 42.6 in.
Shoulder Room 55.3 in. 57.4 in.
Hip Room 54.2 in. 55.8 in.

<< keep the taurus and get the 'vette in a convertible. weather permitting, take the vette. otherwise go with the ford >>

'63-'67 Roadster 😀

but be aware that a corvette is quite loud, a gas guzzler, and the air dams will scrape on the pavement if their is a modest rise

you can always get the convertible version

wrong, wrong... they are not loud at all unless u put an aftermarket exhaust...in fact they are way too quiet stock, they NEED an aftermarket exhaust to make it sound more powerful. and they are not gas guzzlers, the LS1 can get 28MPG on the highway.. not bad for such a powerful V8

Found this on the Corvetteforum, thanks Valhalla -

"Hate to say this, but the tall guys need a C5." (this in a post about a guy who's 6-8)

Which is what I was looking at, so cool. 😛

Don't know about the air dam things, but the 'vettes I've heard are very quiet. My Taurus gets 20/29, the 'vettes get 18/27 with a V8.

I fancy the 58 - 60 myself 🙂

I drove a friends 97 C5 once. I'm 6'2" and I had no space issues. I wasn't exactly looking at that because the thrill of being behind the wheel of one of those beasts is enough to make you ignore just about everything else. I'm guessing you're going for the C5, right? My dad used to have a 70 StingRay and he was about 5'11". I never heard any complaints about the amount of space for the driver and that was the only car he owned at the time. You're a lucky man. 🙂

Yeah, but it's an investment that pays off in the end 🙂

A 58-60 vette is around 36 grand for a near perfect driver, and 45-50 grand for a perfect show car. It REALLY gets expensive when you start talking about 54-57 vettes, though. Lucky for me those aren't my favorites 🙂

<< a gas guzzler >>

Oh do they?

The impressive Z06 is capable of 28 mpg on the highway. The standard version gets slightly less, at 25.

For the $50k or so you're lookin to spend, Id buy myself a nice 1990 or so Mustang 5.0

You could probably find one in damn near mint condition somewhere locally, and drop the other 40k on the upgrades 🙂

He said he wanted a Vette, not a Fix Or Repair Daily. 😛

FYI, the Z06 goes for low 48k in Nashville, TN.

I love it when people say "but i'd get a mustang"

So when you pull up on a nice blonde at a light and the car next to you is a vette....which one you think she wants to ride in? 🙂 Not your broken down trash 10k mustang.

Xerox,

I'm the same height you are, and my '85 was quite comfortable. Did require a little seat adjustment, though. Plus it had tha glass roof, which provided a needed extra pube's worth of head room.
