I want a 2011 Ford Edge. Give me reasons not to buy one.

Cliffs:
Drive a 2000 sedan and I'm 6'5". No sedan in the cards, I can't take it anymore falling in and climbing out
I have a pretty good budget for a new car
I don't want a truck, or a full size SUV

What am I missing since I'm not an aficionado. I just read some stuff on the 2011, liked the 2010 and decided the '11 would be worth the wait. However, what am I not choosing instead that is superior in this class at a similar price point ~10% either way(small, mid crossovers, smaller suvs).

Looking for some opinions/expertise.

It's a fat, overweight, underpowered, complete Venza-rip-off?

It weighs 4100lbs with 265hp, how is that overweight/underpowered?

It's not a mustang :|

From everything I've heard it's pretty well best in segment, close to at least

What about a Honda CRV or a Subaru Outback? I dunno, I've never really liked the Edge. My buddy think's they look great though.

I drove an outback as a rental on vacation last month. Not bad, but I decided I didn't like how it rode. CRV might be a bit too small for my tastes. I do like Honda tho. I will have to do some more exploration.

not sure if the Acura RDX is out of your price range.....nice little turbocharged SUV, although it may be the same size as a CRV

If you're cool with the whole CUV thing...it is one of the best, if not the best option out there in its segment. So if you like it...get it.

Venza rip-off? Are you insane. The Edge was out first and the new one's interior makes the Venza look like a rip-off...from a price perspective.

You may want to at least try the 3.6L version of the Outback. It doesn't have the CVT and the engine is supposed to be great. It is the one car I did not test drive that I REALLY wish we had before buying my wife's A4. I haven't driven it yet...but it has gotten good reviews from people who I trust their opinion in cars.

Go TODAY and look at a venza, toyota has extended incentives I heard and they are phenomenal but will end very soon. Also look at the CX7 by mazda, isn't it the same as the edge basically? The prices may be lower.

I believe the CX9 and the Edge share the same platform...not the CX7. But both the CX7 and CX9 are probably worth a look.

Thanks fellas, I did think of leveraging Toyota to see, and if it was wildly cheaper 20% or so I might be swayed.

I doubt my rental had the 3.6, I was surprised b/c typically I like driving Subarus.

RDX is on the top end, I love Acuras... this is the first time I've even considered a Ford.

Again thanks for the input.

Haha, "I hate everything domestic but know nothing" rant fail.

Do people even know what the 2011 Edge looks like?

Previous Edge did not look a bit like the Venza:

I was at the NYAS last week and I heard with my own ears as people walked by... "Hey? Looks like a Venza".

The front definitely has the bumper curve lines which looks basically the same.
