I want 802.11b now! Does your school offer 802.11b?

Well things are finally getting started here at the University of Colorado. Completion date of 802.11b support in select areas is slated for the second week of May.

Second week of MAY?! I'll be on vacation then! OH how lucky the incoming freshmen are.

So which schools do you go to that offer 802.11b?

Cornell's got it in some of the libraries, some residence halls (the one where I'm going to be next year! Woot!) as well as a number of other places.

they dont offer it at my school,
but i have wireless network setup at my house and love it. Hopefully i'll upgrade this summer when the 802.11a devices (i think thats them.. the faster wireless one) get cheaper.

VT is about half wired for 802.11b as it stands right now, and more and more buildings are coming online in Fall '02 ...

802.11b is the standard for Wireless LAN, they use cards that operate at approx. 2.4ghz to transfer data up to 11MBps

Okay, that's been around here for a while, I believe; either that or I'm confusing it with the 1MB version, which is entirely too possible. Are you talking about a class to explain it, or facilities to support it's use for the students?

hes talking about the facilities to use it, and i mistyped i ment to write 11Mbps its max throughput is about 1.375MBPs 802.11a will have a throughput of 54Mbps.
