I totalled my car!

I was driving a few days ago when my brakes just quit working. I pushed on the brake and it went straight to the floor with hardly any resistance. The brake repair (which I did get a second opinion on) was gonna be $800-900, which is more than the value of the car. It's not worth it to get it fixed, because it's a crappy bronco from the 80's that is about to choke up and die from a mess of other problems.

I've figured that I can spend about five thousand on a used car. I want a SUV/truck one with a lot of room, but not a truck with a bed (I want to some semi-valuble stuff there and truck beds tend to get semi-valuble stuff stolen out of them). Anyone have any suggestions?

Dude if you can't maintain your cars get a better job.

A bronco from the 80's is a 5000lb killing machine without brakes.

Way to go.

Grab a Grand Cherokee if you can find one. I've seen lots in that price range with the newer body style and lowish mileage. Those I6s will go forever!

Reading comprehension at its finest once again. Dude he didn't say he was driving it without brakes. Quite the opposite. The brakes failed, its not worth fixing, he's looking for a new car.

Yea, 2 guys in my office always have theirs in the shop. I'd look at a 4runner. Early to mid 90's should fit that price range.

So how was his Bronco totalled then and the only estimate was brakes?

The WAY is sounded to ME was he got an estimate for brakes, decided not to repair then hit someone and totalled his BRONCO.

You do realize I realize you are pulling the same reading comprehension thing I did with you right? Nice to know is stuck with you. :)

lamer.

I don't see anything in there about an accident, just a brake failure that will cost more then the car is worth, so he considers it "totalled". Certainly no indication that he drove it after the brakes failed.

Full size Bronco or a Bronco2?

If it is a 2 then yea its junk, but if it is a Full size V8 with little to no rust then fix it. Also how can you need $800 in brakes for a older American truck???
And if it is a full size with little rust then I will take it off your hands and get it out of your way ;)
No charge :)

As for replacment look at a Trailblazer or GMC Envoy. I don;t know if they have come down in price enough yet but you never know, eBay?

The correct response would be, "Oh, I read it wrong, sorry for being such an asshole."

Instead, you choose to remain a prick. Why?
