I thought that I read about a larger Nexus in the works...

All rumours, but what I heard was a larger Nexus phone. As for an 11" Nexus tablet, I've heard almost nothing about that. Well, I did see a few internet musings, but nothing that qualifies even as a truly viable rumour.

Which reminds me. WHERE ARE THE NEW NEXUS PHONES?!

BTW, a larger Nexus phone is exactly what I don't want. I want a smaller Nexus phone, that's still well built, with good specs.

I dunno about the specs. Nexus phones have never really aimed to be high end flagships, they are dev phones designed to give app devs a performance target to aim for. The "lackluster" specs of the Galaxy Nexus certainly didn't stop me from buying and enjoying it as my phone. Benchmarks are highly overrated when it comes to phones IMHO.

I'm not saying it has to be the fastest phone out there, but I want something newer than the current Nexus, and with a smaller screen.

I mostly agree. But I don't necessarily want a smaller screen on this new Nexus that doesn't exist... I want a smaller phone. So if they can eliminate the bezel (like the Motorola RAZR i for example) and shrink the width of the phone while keeping the screen the same, that works for me too.

Yeah, I'm kind of expecting a new Nexus to have a S4 processor with a better 1280x720 screen, 2GB of RAM and if we're lucky, an 8MP camera on the back. Otherwise, it won't be terribly different from a SGS3. I think even the difference between a 4.65" and 4.8" screen isn't worth talking about. The GNex was too large for me. I think I'd settle on a 4.3" max.

Agreed... I really don't want a 5 inch screen and I'm worried thats what the new nexus phone will have :(

How about a smaller screen and a smaller bezel? ;)

Like bearxor, I'm thinking 4.3" max, but throw in a smaller bezel and it'd be even better.

I heart my RAZR Maxx.... hmmmm, which tablet to look at then.... I'm debating a life without a real pc

I wouldn't mind the same 4.65" screen size, though I'd want a non pentile screen. I would expect spec bumps either quad core or A15-like CPUs.

Actually I DO think it should be fast or one of the fastest. what's the point of releasing a developer phone that's limited in speed? You want to develop for Android and for devices FASTER than your development device can handle? Doesn't make sense to me.

But I see why there's a conflict of interest. Why would Samsung make a new superphone that eclipses their Galaxy S3? They wouldn't want to. While they'd still get money if they make the Nexus phone, it would compete with their GS3 and then strip users away from TouchWiz.

I'm actually on the other side of the boat. I'd love to see a 5" Nexus using the new 1080P sharp screen with the addition of a wacom digitizer so we'd have some S-pen cross compatibility. We'll call it the G-Pen lol!

I'm personally hoping for something along the lines of the GNex in terms of size with an OMAP 5 doing the work. Oh, and more storage for the GSM Unlocked variant

I really like the size of the GNex as well. I hope it doesn't get smaller but doesn't go larger than a GS3.

It's not a Nexus but the Razr M has a 1.5ghz Krait dual core and a 4.3" screen in a device only slightly larger than a iPhone 4S.

It helps create a minimum performance target for the OS that comes with each new Nexus generation. Devs would they know their apps need to run well on that level of hardware. It's Google's way of telling phone makers "Your phone needs to be this fast to be acceptable for X version of Android."

i want a 5" htc-made nexus, with a 1080p screen, which we've seen in benchmarks already. with quad core krait and adreno 320.

1080P made the geek in me jump in delight when I first heard it too, but then I began to really think about it. Why? Screen will be sharper, but just think how much better the battery life would be if it was a more "pedestrian" 720P? Especially considering it's an HTC phone who always lags behind in the battery department.

The width on that is excellent, at only 61 mm.

I'd prefer at least Jelly Bean though, and with the stock OS, although in truth I haven't tried Motorola's flavour of Android recently. I do know I don't want Samsung's flavour of it though.

The new Moto skin isn't terrible. It's probably just about the closest you can get without going Nexus at this point.

Problem on the RAZR M is that 960x540 screen.

...and the non replaceable battery. what we really need is a bionic m

A minimum performance target can be implemented through the SDK or whatever. And you can use other devices to simulate this. Furthermore, you're not releasing a Nexus device as a "minimum performance" standard. That's not the point. You can always test performance by simulating slower performance, but you can't simulate faster performance if your hardware is limited.

Maybe they can use the Nexus S as a minimum performance standard. But it would be more wise to not have your phone performance limited when it's newly released.

Nexus rumors are slowly starting to gain momentum.

I'm strongly believing the concept of multiple Nexus devices this year. There has been camera data supporting a model number that would match up with a "Galaxy Nexus Plus" or whatever it's to be called (which would be a mid-range phone).

I have a feeling they may just end up having a Nexus device from each of the top manufacturers. Nexus is evolving to be more than a hardcore-user/developer brand, and becoming Google's answer to the market conditions. They want "Pure Google" out there, but want to keep the open Android world alive too (i.e. custom themes/skins/baked-in-goods). It would be awesome if every future Nexus phone was also available on every network - but I have a feeling we won't be seeing that.
