I have been refilling my ink cartridges, on various brands of printers for years, cuz, well, I'm a cheap bastard. Some printers will just nag you, and some will stop your printing task.
Here's another cheap trick,-- Start, Settings, Printers, right click Printer, select Properties,
click on the ports tab, un-select "Enable Bi-Directional Support", click apply, than OK.
This will disable *ALL* communication sent *FROM* your printer, but not from your computer.
The downside is, if you run out of paper, you would never even know it, hehehe.

Cheap-ass Canon scanner/copier/printer. I'll probably sell it at the end of my senior year and pick up a multi-function color laser for grad school.

What model printer is it from Canon? I have an MP530 and MP600, and I think that they're both awesome.

What's wrong with the printer telling you that you have low ink? Unless it's requiring you to acknowledge it, or altogether stops printing, just live with the notification. We have copiers and laser printers at work that complain for a month that they are running low on toner before they actually exhaust the current supply.

It's not a matter of it telling me I have low ink, just that it's been saying it for months and seems to indicate low ink when only half the cartridge is gone. What I consider low and what the manufacturer considers low are two different things. I have nothing wrong with notification overall.

As far as model, I'm using an MP160. It's good for school work and the random picture or two. It was a cheap multi-function and has been serving me for the past 3 years.
