Yeah no kidding, I had a dream last night, that I was lying down, and a tarrantula was on my face, and I saw its undersides. Its weird because I didn't wake up, but was screaming, and then I woke up this morning. Then I read this thread. And my dream came back to me.

Sounds familiar...

NO WAI! That night I had just watched Home Alone!

HOLY SHIT!

Fuck. That.

Black windows aren't overly dangerous to most people. I still wouldn't want it on me.

Spiders never bothered me, I used to deal with Brown Recluses all the time when I was a kid.

Black widows still freak me out, they just look evil.

I can deal with anything except a brown recluse. Even clock spiders.

Eh, I didn't know a clock spiders was just another name for a huntsman, but the only thing freaky about those besides the way they look is that they almost always live in pairs or more. So if you find one inside your house...... They don't bite though. At least not with any harmful results. One managed to almost kill my Mom nonetheless, thing was hiding under the visor of the car and she pulled it down to block out the sun. Thing fell straight into her lap. Doesn't help that she's petrified of spiders. I still don't quite know how she didn't roll.

Black widows though. Thats the shit nightmares are made of. Nothing wrong with letting out a yelp if you spot one of those suckers on you. Nasty lil devils.

Nice .... its not like you would have died if it decided to chomp you but it would have been seriously painful!

Luckily as you found out, Widows arn't very aggressive at all & only bite if they feel threatened ... unlike an Usambara Baboon tarantula !!! (I have 2 of these)

You're one bad ass mofo!

If this happened to me I would have bought out Walmart/Target's stock of RAID and turned my house into a biohazard.

I'm ok with spiders, but I freaking hate roaches.

I think it all started when I found one crawling on my kitchen ceiling a few years ago. It wasn't a little indoor-type roach, but one of those humongous 2 inch yard roaches. Having no roach spray handy, I get the clever idea to attempt to smash him with a broom handle, but I forgot that they could fly... When my first jab with the broom handle misses the roach he dives toward my face. I'm paralyzed in fear as his thick body with its ~3 inch wingspan sputters loudly before coming to rest on my left cheek. Before I can even totally register the magnitude of my mistake he's on my face and racing...down my neck, just ahead of my clawing fingers. For a moment before I finally bat him away I can feel him "gripping" my flesh with his legs, he feels cold against my skin. *shudder*

Meh, roaches don't bother me. I lived in Southeast Asia for the better part of the last year and ate those little bastards all the time while drinking beer.

I was on a bus in Cambodia and we stopped for a piss break, and a bunch of the Cambodians had bought bags of insects at the roadside stalls. A lady in front of me had a bag of roaches, and my friend predicted she would offer us some. At the time I had told myself I'd try bugs but the idea really disgusted me to no end, but sure enough she offered and I am never one to refuse hospitality. Chomped a few of those suckers down with a smile on my face and tried not to puke.

Then I developed a taste for them.

Just to show you how big the horsefly was relative to my fingers

edit: The only spiders I dislike and am actually startled by are the one's faster than lightning and half the size of your hand! Often referred to as Housekeeper spiders. Just like a wolfspider, only much BIGGER!

You would love my Usambara's then .... folks on the Arachnoboards forum refer to the way they move as teleporting, plus they have a legspan of roughly 5 inchs.

I had one get loose in my bathtub once during cage cleaning time & run up my arm so fast I couldn't see it go ... fortunately it didn't decide to munch me that time at least!

I'm not scared mind you, as I would readily smash it in my hands. Startled yes. Afraid no.
I smashed many with my palm in the past. Now that I live in TN, I only have Widows now. If you look at my above post, you will see pics I took last year of one. It was huge!

Hey, get me some pics of those spiders. I'm trying to get as many together as I can.

Thanks

Sorry no pics of mine available at the moment ... heres a couple interesting links to hold you for now:

Usumbara baboon

Mustard Baboon (I have one of these & its by far the most aggressive Tarantula I own)

King Baboon

A good site for pictures: GiantSpiders.com

Best site around for accurate information: Arachnoboards

Another great site ... also cool if you want to buy a Tarantula or other spider: Todd Gearharts TarantulaSpiders!

I'll post pic of mine when I get a chance ... till then enjoy! :)

I had one of those crawl on my hand when I picked up an old monitor at work once. We ended up throwing into a SEM and getting some pretty kick ass pictures. I wish I could find the pics.
